Buy Apple MBP from US to Be Used Here

Hi,

I have a friend who is US resident, he is traveling to AUS in couple more weeks; I've been thinking to ask him to buy Apple MBP for me.

What will be the implications on the warranty, consider it will be purchased under his name (for obvious reason, as I won't be there at the time of purchase)?

Will Apple honour the international warranty, under my name at later stage?

    Yes they will, but you will have to pay for shipping to get it there.

      Do you mean in my case, for warranty, I need to ship the laptop to US Apple, and not AUS Apple?

      What if I someone sold me an Apple product, and they bought it from US/other region, can the warranty transferred across to me?

        Same as above, if you buy a second hand US apple device then yes you will get the warranty but you will have to ship it to the US to get fixed

    You can get AppleCare Plus there or here which is transferrable and has global coverage for Macs, but you should always consult the Apple Staff to make sure.

    I would be double checking how much you really save. I'm pretty sure It's only a couple of hundred and imo that is worth the Australia consumer law warranty

      Wait until you are going overseas, buy it here, claim GST back through TRS and you will be ahead.
