Interstate Car Registration & Drivers Licence Questions

Hi there.

I've been living in Queensland for about a year now, but still have my licence registered in New South Wales.

I registered my car in Queensland. I'm about to move to Western Australia in 2 weeks and want to sell my car.

Do I just sell it and change my licence to WA when I get there?

Aren't car rego and driving license separate issues? BTW I believe you should have had your DL changed to QLD some time ago.

    • yeah thats what i thought and yes i know i should have and i went to the RTA twice in qld to do so but they have to get a fax from nsw departments of transport with all my information so it can be changed over within 2 weeks but i havent been able to get back…its my own fault i know - was just asking a question

      • Well you probably don't have to bother with the DL now, and you can sell and transfer your QLD registered car regardless.
