Receive 50% off the price of one handcrafted beverage purchased using your activated, registered Starbucks Card. Where more than one handcrafted beverage is purchased in that transaction where you apply this reward, the 50% discount will be applied to the lowest priced handcrafted beverage item.

Your Welcome Offer reward will be automatically loaded onto your account upon registration of your Starbucks Card under your account, and will be available to you for thirty (30) days. The Welcome Offer reward expires after thirty (30) days (“Welcome Offer Validity Period”). You must present your activated, registered Starbucks Card to the barista at a participating Australian Starbucks store, and use that Starbucks Card to complete that purchase, in order to receive your reward. You can view and track your available Rewards at starbucks.com.au/loyalty or using the Starbucks Australia mobile app. You will receive only one Welcome Offer reward throughout the entire period of your participation in Starbucks Rewards™. The Welcome Offer reward may be redeemed at participating Australian Starbucks stores only, and the 50% off reward is only available for handcrafted beverages and is not available for ready-to-drink bottled beverages.

There's also a free drink single use reward given at the start of your birthday month which can be redeemed anytime during that month or the following month.

    You've bought credit, whether or not you end up using it is up to you. But they have your money. It's like pre-paid.

      Yeah that's​ true. I guess it allows you to accumulate bonus credit. But the only reason I can think of for being able to load money on the card yourself would be to make it faster at the checkout. Here in Australia where most people have credit or debit cards it seems redundant.

  does anyone know how the free drink at start of birthday month is received? i signed up for app months ago, and birthday was yesterday, didn't see an email / or anything in -app, received on first of april? looks like i missed out somehow..

    Did had the same issue and my birthday was last month. I emailed them and they manually added it to my account.
