I just leave a tiny USB stick permanently plugged in. Not ideal, only over option is the OWC upgrade kits which are very pricy.
I have a Transcend Jetdrive in mine for extra storage (I have a 256GB base storage). It works pretty well if you don't need the SD Card slot all that often.
I find that w/ the OS and a few apps, 128GB would be gone. In other words, in evaluating this deal, plan on needing more storage. IMO, it's worth finding a laptop w/ more storage, as this will help the resale value down the road.
For lightweight machines like this that are mostly used for basic word processing/productivity purposes I think 128gb is manageable. Coupled with some portable storage it should be fine.
Better than 4gb ram + 256gb flash, in my opinion.
This was under $1000 two weeks ago from the same supplier. Please keep in mind that at this price there's another $200 dollars to be spent in import tax. Might break the deal for some.
Hi Mysterymeat, there are no additional duties or taxes payable on our products. The price on the website is the final price.
$170 overpriced… have to pay import tax ect
Agreed - even then I'd struggle to buy it with that screen - it's hard to go non-retina now when everything else is.
A lot of negative Nancy's in this thread, I think this is a great device for a decent price.
Yes but this hasn't been the lowest price from Dicksmith/Kogan ebay also anything over $1000 from Hong Kong you pay $200 tax
I bought this exact Ebay MacBook air 8gb ram version and paid $998
Last month, Hence ..#nodeal
I am not sure, how do you know its from Hong Kong ?
https://www.dicksmith.com.au/da/direct-import/
its what Dicksmith do now that they are owned by KOGAN.. also im still waiting for my macbook air i bought on march 20th. for $998
@MADBONE89: makes sense
Would this still have Apple's 1 year warranty?
Want to buy this asap, but can't for the life of me enter the code. Can anyone please help?
Regret not buying it for <$1k last month: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/297345 (ie this is not really a bargain relative to historical price)
At this price though, I'd rather shop local and not worry about warranties/converters/etc.
Not a bad deal, but 128GB is rough. You'd want more.
