Saw in Harey Normans catalogue that they have the ipod touch 8gb with free USB charger for $229 but when going into the City West Store in Perth they are part of their current harvey-normous sale and are $198. When I went there yesterday they had 6 left. Not really advertised so should have stock at most stores.
Not sure if its just WA or Aus wide but worth ringing and asking if you are in the market.
I thought there was technically no such thing as a "3rd Gen" 8G touch….
Or whatever they're calling the current gen. The one with Bluetooth.

Correct and as the OP stated the HN one is new and includes a free Belkin wall charger, i'm pretty sure it trumps the apple offer stated above for refurbished units….and HN will do an extra two years apple warranty for $30 if you wanna bother.
I brought the $198 one and they offered to extend the 1 year warrenty to 5 years for about $45.
Did you take the extended warranty? I purchased one from HN last week, $30 for total of 3 years and $50 for 5 years but I didn't bother…
mmmm…… we are about 2 weeks away from the announcement of new ipods (if the rumors are correct), so unless you really need one today, it may be worth the wait.
I think there will be more iPod offers this coming period to clear old stock, as Apple will announce new iPods in a couple of weeks
I will probably get the new Ipod touch, I have waited almost 3 years with out buying a touch, I can wait a few more weeks.

The one advertised in the paper in Adelaide didn't say anything about a free charger either, not sure if its a different story in store tho…
You can get 2nd Gen refurb'd ones with full warranty delivered from Apple for $199 or 3rd gen for $209…
