Ok so I'm after a MacBook Pro and have seen the one I want at JB, i just missed the 10% off sale, but noticed they have 'See in-store for a HOT PRICE!' uderneath this particular model. Is this a marketing ploy or can I still get it for a really hot price….say….10% off? or is it just lik their normal 'what's the best price you can do I this?' And take like $5 off?

searches Youtube for 'hot price handshake' :P
I did that too …just at the moment my wife walked in….
Just go in there today and say you missed the sale, and ask for the 10% off price saying you'll only buy for that price. If they don't give it to you, walk out and try another one.
Hold firm and you should get it for the sale price.
Go to the apple store and ask for a student discount. Usually is ~ 10% off.
JB Hi-Fi don't advertise the fact but the instore prices are negotiable (at least on the higher priced things).
Having worked in a JB Hifi store before, this tactic is only to get you into the shop to get you talking on price for a product. There isnt typically a company wide price that is offered on the product. Nor is it indicative of the quantity of inventory on that particular product.
Do try and use it to your advantage If you dont like the price they offered say something like "you guys said you could give me a 'hot price' on this product, try a bit harder". Most sales people will try a bit harder to give you a better deal.
You have to do the 'for a hot price handshake' it's like a secret society gesture that only members in the know, well, know. They sent out an email with a youtube tutorial on how to do this hot price handshake. Search your inbox. I guarantee, you'll get 10% off.
