Bus lane cameras and daylight savings (Sydney)

Hi guys,

So today I was driving on Elizabeth road in Sydney cbd heading from central to town hall, and I was driving in the bus lane. My car clock read 6:42pm which I immediately assumed it was okay to drive in the bus lane as bus lane time on Sundays are from 10am to 6pm. Later on I checked my phone time and I realised shit, there was daylight savings today?? That meant I was driving in the bus lane during operation hours at 5:42pm. I clearly drove in the lane for more than 100 metres, and I still needed to turn left to get onto Park st…

Do bus lane cameras operate with daylight savings in mind?

  • In theory the operators would adjust the times, yes.

Perhaps you will find out in about 4 weeks?

Pretty much any equipment with computers these days have the correct time courtesy of time synchronisation protocols and timezone files.

  • 4 weeks huh.. guess I will find out then.

Just say Teresa Brennan was driving

    • Missed the joke on this one, care to explain?

  • LOL. Sorry :(

  • Unlucky. Is there a bus lane camera on that road though?

    • And does the bus lane operate Sunday evenings too?

      • Well signage does say sat-sun &a public holidays 10am-6pm

  • How was the traffic at the time? If only light traffic, you should ask for a review and some leniency, they probably get lots of those mistakes.

    • If I ever get the fine I'll see how this works into it. I very rarely drive in the bus lanes but just this once I did, and what an honest mistake! It was very light traffic as well

  • Oh 100% yes
