Last Minute Holiday - Yay or Nay?

Fellow OzBargainers,

With Easter holiday is approaching, I have been wondering if I should go somewhere for holiday with my family. I dont have much annual leave at the moment, so only looking to go somewhere nice and relaxing for those 4 public holidays (rather than sitting pretty at home)
Domestic or overseas destinations (short distance of course!) are okay.

Obviously, I have not planned anything until now so just want to get some ideas on potential destinations and if it's advisable to organise a trip in such a short time especially economically as some hotels may jack up the prices closer to date or vice versa (?).
Accommodation availability may be a challenge too being so close to the dates.

Anyone with previous last-minute trip is welcomed to share their experience.

P.S. 2 adults + 1 toddler in Sydney

UPDATE: Anyone with suggestions where to look for last minute holiday deals would be much appreciated!

    Easter show !

Way too expensive now to try and book something

  • Everyone needs a holiday. I think for most people, it's not a case of whether they can afford it or not. It's whether it's high enough on their priority list.

So if you're willing to spend, then why not?

Easter break is a high demand period, so prices will likely be higher than usual.

  • Any nice places to go to for a day trip? Suggestions?

  • Tasmania always sounds good.

    • 4 days are enough in Tasmania? Shops will be closed though, right?

  • NZ? Not too far away and flights usually aren't too expensive.

  • Yay Yea
