too much hassle for one little 30g bar worth less than a dollar.

    • +12

not sure too much hassle is a good enough reason for a neg vote…

      • free candy is free candy

      • +10

Really? I think cyrax83 has a point. For example, if I promoted the following hypothetical bargain "Simply run a marathon three times, then collect your FREE 30g chocolate bar!" would you still call it a "bargain" and say that the hassle vs. reward ratio isn't worthy of a neg vote? I know this is an extreme, ludicrous example but my point is that the hassle vs. reward ratio will be different for everyone. Some people would run a long way for a chocolate bar. Some people couldn't be bothered walking to the shop. So in my opinion cyrax83 is justified in neg voting, as he/she feels the "bargain" isn't really a bargain at all, but rather just a lame attempt at publicity with extremely little reward for the consumer.

        • +4

no way near the effort for only 30g, since we all know cadbury too well. only good if you were a regular at Mobil so it wouldn't be out of the way.

but when it comes to posts on here which are free, people agree you shouldn't have the right to neg the post, but rather a negative comment alone will do. as it may be a great offer to others.

          • +3

@Cripto: I work at a printing company, and I walk past a Mobil on a daily basis, and I love chocolate and I love freebies…but I will give this a miss :P $0.50 is worth about 30 secs of my time…printing out the coupon will probably cost you a few cents to begin with! Shame on Cadbury! SHAME! :P

          • +3

@Cripto: Cripto, I kinda disagree with you there. I think people should be free to vote positive or negative (or not to vote), as long as s/he has a valid reason. If s/he voted due to invalid reason, such as "I don't like Cadbury", then yes, the vote should be invalidated. But if the reason is valid (such as "too much hassle" example given above), then s/he should be free to express his/her own opinion of the deal.

Remember: bargain is about perception of value. What is of great value for one person may not be the case for other.

            • @vwh: Why is "too much hassle" a valid reason and "don't like Cadbury" not valid?

Both are value judgements, personal to the person making them.

Nothing wrong with commenting, but rating it as a bad deal just because you don't want to go for it doesn't seem justified.

you should apply for a PHD in justification of the pessimistic state of mind.

lol free chocolate nothign beats that

    • +6

I kind of agree. Can people really be bothered?

You have to wait till the 23rd, then go to the cadbury site, complete the form and details, go to your email and download the voucher, print it out and go to a Mobil store to redeem a measly 30g piece of chocolate.

It's hardly free because TIME IS MONEY. Wouldn't call it a 'bargain' either..

    • I think the people you'll find here are more interested in "bargains" and "freebies" for the thrill of the matter rather than in saving money on regularly purchased goods. If the latter were the case there would be deals posted when steak goes from $14 to $6 a kilo, which you never see.

The "freebie" in question is clearly hardly worth the effort of printing out and handing in a voucher. In the extreme best case scenario the whole printing to handing in to Mobil would take at least 15 minutes and you would earn about $4.50 as a bartender if you worked that 15 minutes and be able to buy a whole block.

Hmm…maybe add 30g in the title? I thought this is a full size sample like the Nestle Club :(

  • +2

mmmmmmm a little bit of orangutan in every glass of palm oil they use!!!

    • +1

I don't think they use Palm Oil anymore
They have switched back to coca butter

  • +2

    Are you serious?
    It's just only 30g - less than 50c.
Would you bother fill up a form wait a coupon
and then find place to get it?

    • +1

      YEP… I have simple needs

    • Yeah, not very bright of the publicists. If it had been me I would have offered 1 in 20 chance of winning a 200g bar or something like that. Then watch the applications flood in. People love to gamble and are overly optimistic. :)

      • +1

        1 in 20 wins = game of chance = permits = $$$

Promo mechanics are fine, but perhaps a better choice in partner for distribution could have been considered.

  • I bookmarked the page - no voucher

    • Nowhere does it say bookmaking the page gets you a voucher

      • The OP does.

  • not worth it for 30G

  • Apparently WA and TAS can't participate in the offer as we have no Mobil servo's :(

I reckon it's a bit of false advertising on the Cadbury site. They have an image of 2 x 190 gram blocks next to the words "Free Sample Offer", while it's only in the fine print do you discover that it's a 30 gram bar on offer.

They were sneaky when they recently reduced their block size from 210-240 grams to 180-190 grams, and they're being sneaky again.

      Nice pick up.

Well they can either do that or put the price up.

    • alamodey and Marvnation,

I'm revoking your negative votes. Please read:

free chocolate is free chocolate - if you're at work and print out a coupon and drive by a mobil - then a free sugar fix is great

Just on the off chance someone wants to try something different - i bought some green and blacks organic chocolate at woolworths when it was on sale a while ago. Best chocolate you can buy in the shops in my opinion - and this is coming from a former cadbury lover

    DELICIOUS

  • CADBURY, DAIRY MILK, BAR OF PLENTY, THE GLASS AND A HALF DEVICE AND THE COLOUR PURPLE ARE CADBURY GROUP TRADE MARKS USED UNDER LICENCE.

    THE COLOUR PURPLE.

I'm not going to vote on this. I don't know whether to vote positive or negative.. as others have said, it is a big effort to make for 30 grams of chocolate.

    • +2

Go on give it a neg… its misleading advertising the way they have the 2 190g bars there, and in the very very fine print it says 30g.

EDIT: like what tony said above.

  • +1

not as good as the free block of dark chocolate from nestle. not worth trying for 30grams but still +1 cause free choc is free choc, if you can be bothered.

    • +1

That 100g home delivered Club block was faaaaaaaaaaantastic.

      • That reminds me, I never received my Club chocolate after "successfully" applying for it :(

  • Sorry guys, didnt realise it was not much of a bargain to some, but for me it is as I walk pass a Mobil everyday & would rather try 30g's of it than buy a block of it at $4.

    • +1

free is free and i am sure that some people will find this a good bargain. thanks for sharing. can understand time is money and all that but to neg vote it seems a little harsh given effort of posting, fact that some will find it useful. I live opposite a mobil so when i can't sleep at 1 in the morning and am bored i might use this.

  • I can't believe people are complaining about free chocolate! Some of you guys obviously have it too good.

    • it's not 'free' when you have to expend so much effort to get it. Would rather if they just posted it to my door so i can om nom nom :D

      • obviously they are promoting mobil stores as well. Though I don't know what for. 7/11 bought them anyways.

  • Yeah I thought it was the large size blocks too when i first saw the picture, shame it wasnt that would have been awesome. I do fill up at mobils quite often so i might try and see if i can get a sample. But I can see what people are saying, it is quite a lot of effort.
