I believe either dealsdirect or oo have a pretty decent 32" LCD for $400. So this isnt bad but its not amazing.

    • +2

      I don't think so…

Cheapest I could find was a 32" Telefunken TV at oo for $480. But that is not even HD resolution.

This also has 2 years in home warranty and is 100hz

  • coles has one for $398 now.

    Response time: 8.0ms

Ummmm, perfect for the extreme Solitaire gamer or Lawn Bowls sports fanatic.

    • +5

I'm not sure what you are comparing this too, but 8ms is fine. Won't be as good as a Sony Bravia or something though….

    • -2

Yeah 8 ms is really slow… When objects move across the screen it may appear slightly jerky/or delayed! Definately a big factor to consider.

      • +1

        What a remarkably ill-informed comment!!!

    • +4

At last, us Extreme Solitaire Gamers (or Solitairites as we like to be known) are given the recognition we deserve!

Too long have we had to deal with the agonising defeat of having a necessary card blocked in silence.

No longer do we have to face the suffering of having an ever-growing wastepile alone.

The ecstacy of seeing cards flying from king to ace epitomises the passion and devotion I have for this should-be sport.

Surely now we Solitairites can stand up proud and be respected by the gaming community, and society in general!

    • +2

Not too sure how it is calculated, but isn't 8ms = 125Hz? Whereas the panel is 100Hz so even at 8ms it is sufficient?

      • +2

This 42'' is getting a good wrap and it only has 6.5ms
        http://www.bigw.com.au/electronics/televisions/LCDTV/bpnBIGW…

I guess if your a serious card watcher…. there are a few options out there?

        • Mind you, Big W's is $300 more at $800 against Aldi's $500 with a 60 days no questions asked return policy and an in-house warranty.

          • @Horizon: The Big W one Included has a 12 month repair warranty and is 10" bigger - those extra inches go a long way…

            • +1

@Damo: That's true, but when you get up around the $800 neighborhood there are a few other full 42" sets about.

And even the occasional Samsung or Panasonic blips on the screen. (If you'll pardon the pun.)

              • @Horizon: True and not to forget Aldi TV is 100 Hz, 2years in house warranty and only 500 bucks is a real good bargain, I suppose.

On Sanyo TV deal from DSE, some one suggested the review to be quite bad for it:
                http://www.hdtvsolutions.com/Sanyo-DP46848-reviews.htm?revie…

Many people complaints that they run out after 2 years. though it is a different 42" tv.

Whereas, Aldi quality is ok and if it is running for 2 years and mostly LCD TV starts giving problem, if any after first year.

            • +1

@Damo: Also add the Sanyo build quality.
Would be the #1 choice by far when comparing 42" budget LCDs.
Less likely to be a wheelie bin filler in 13 months like a lot of the mystery boxes around.

        • +1

          that tv is 50hz…
very slow compared to the high end ones

          • +1

@kRaYziE666: There's a hell of a lot of misconception out there regarding exactly what 50hz vs. 100/120hz means! :o

I'd suggest some of you guys spend a bit of time with our old mate Google, don't just stack arbitrary figures up against each other without putting them in perspective! ;)

    • +2

8.0ms black to white most likely. You'll find things quoting 1-2ms are GTG (grey-to-grey).

Pay no attention to ms specifications on TVs. These days they're mostly the same.

Even 100Hz has little to no merit. The are so many misconceptions it's hard to know where to begin.

      • +1

Precisely, at face value the average person could be forgiven for believing 100hz sets should twice as fast as 50hz! I actually even know a few people who turn off MC in their 100hz TVs because it irritates them! ;)

  • I am sorry, guys! but what is the brand of this TV? just can not find it!

    • +1

      Bauhn

  • Is it better than Dick Smiths Vivo for $497? http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/4c6bde5e012bbe6…

    • +1

      Yes.. by quite a bit.

      • I'll second that, saw that on display at dickos. the picture quality left alot to be desired.

  • +2

This TV has already been on sale in Aldi from a few weeks back: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/29084

See that link for more discussions as to quality of this unit. Here’s some additional specs which aren’t available on Aldi’s site for those of you considering this:
    - Model number: Bauhn AS-32FZ1
    - It has 2 x HDMIs
    - 8 Day EPG
    - Physical dimensions (w x d x h): 796mm x 232mm x 573mm(h) including stand
    - Aldi product code: 7157

Also, as this promotion had run previously, this unit is already available (at least at parramatta, wentworthville and rose hill) so no need to wait till 26 August.

If you are in the market for a good 32" LCD, you cant go past this for $499 as it's FULL HD, 100hz, 2 HDMIs and you have 60 days to play with it thanks to aldi's policy.

  • Guys, I am so confused- how bad is 8ms or 50hz?? Can anyone who owns this tv please share the experience? Its difficult to make a decision on this tv as it wont be on display.

    • +1

Mokibria, this tv has a refresh rate of 100hz and pixel response time of 8ms. Whether this is suitable for you depends on what kind of content you are watching as well as what your expectations are in relation to pic quality. On paper, the specs for this unit vs price it excellent. Your best bet to be honest, is to just get one of these from aldi. If you dont like it, you have 60 days to give it back.

      • +1

Thanks ccrap. I had a monitor with 8ms response time and I used to watch dvd movies on it. It was fine. What type of contents wouldnt be good to watch with 8ms?

        • +1

sometime when u watch action movie or play games on a 8ms monitor, you may find out some kind of lag on it
but for me, I can't see much difference between a 8ms and 5ms monitors

        • Most people tend to complain about motion blur, so best thing to do is to test out the tv with some games, fast paced action scenes from movies and some sports - it's most noticeable with these.

        • And yes you may find 8ms is more than sufficient for your needs. GL :)

  • Big W have a 81cm TV for $498 after $100 off in latest catalogue. Model MHD3209-F4-Do.
    3 year warranty, 3 hdmi, contrast 2500:1.response 6.5ms
How does this compare to the Aldi unit?
