Been on waiting list for wisdom teeth extraction since last year... But got a full time job this month. Still eligible or no?

So I've been on a waiting list to get free wisdom teeth extraction (eligible for people with Medicare + Health Care Card) since May last year. My wisdom teeth are pretty bad (both my bottom teeth are growing towards my other teeth) which is why I'm eligible to be on the waitlist, better to get them out asap.

The only thing is, I just started a full time job this month ($45k incl. super + tax)… Would I still be eligible to be on the waitlist? I received a letter today from the Health government which gives me a voucher to get the wisdom teeth extractions done. I would need to see a dentist for the initial checkup before I get any teeth extractions done.

Should I use the voucher, and if I do, will there be any repurcussions in using the voucher now that I'm 3 weeks into my full time job?

I've already reported to Centrelink with my most recent payment, so it's not like they don't know…

What's the best thing to do in my position?

    At: https://www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/enablers/eligibili… is says:

    "Returning to work
You can keep your card for 6 months after returning to work if for more than 1 year you got:
    Newstart Allowance"

As far as the Voucher goes, have a look at any Conditions or Qualifications that apply to it.

Ah, that's exactly what I needed to know, thank you!

Good to know I don't have to save up all my work money for dental work. :)

If you want to be upset about taxpayer's money, get mad at multinational corporations exploiting loopholes to avoid billions of dollars in tax contributions.

Don't get mad at someone who obtained a health care card and is now earning close to minimum wage getting free dental work. That's a really shitty attitude lacking in compassion.

maybe i am being harsh, get them done on tax payers money, that's the spirit…make it someone elses bill

i just paid 13k for a leg operation, and i dont earn much more than that..ill be paying back that loan for 7 years

but manicmoon will also be paying it back by paying income tax for the next 25(?) years, it's still their bill.

You don't know my previous living situation so I don't feel like I need to justify anything to you. I just started my first full time job and if I'm still eligible for free dental work then it's perfectly legal and I'll take advantage of it.

Things are called an entitlement for a reason. A legal, minimum standard; a protection. When it was made, it was considered just and fair in the eyes of the law and the law-makers. The more you pressure people to take a masochistic attitude towards entitlements, the more you encourage them to have the same, judgemental attitude towards others going through hardship. These societal attitudes are dwindling away hard-fought for welfare, workplace and medicare protections and it needs to stop. We are better than that.

I earn a good wage (although still only 'getting by' in Sydney), and unfortunately am in a situation where I have to pay very high medical bills, but I have no problems with my tax dollars going towards boosting up those who need it.
