Strong Sturdy Shopping Trolley for Large Groceries

Looking for a semi big shopping trolley or old lady cart for transporting the groceries from shop to home.

Looking at something more heavyweight than your average trolley that can carry like 10kgs of bottles and etc groceries.

Bonus points for separate compartments even more for some sort of electric motor assisted ones for inclines I go up and down.

Weather proof decent wheel structure.. don't want it collapsing on me while trying to lug maybe 20-30kg worth of groceries.

Is this doable has anybody else looked into this.

If I had five thousand dollars to throw around I'd buy one of those disability scooters any day.

Doing the 3km 10kg+ shopping run can get pretty draining so I think something like this will be great until someone invents an automatic shopping trolley that follows you like a dog or that you can control (dominos dru robot style).

  • Just borrow a shopping trolley from the supermarket? They seem pretty sturdy.

Set up home delivery? Woolworths offer same prices in store and online. $89 for unlimited home delivery for one year, so long as you spend $100 in the one shop. https://www.woolworths.com.au/Shop/Discover/shopping-online/…

Off topic, but I've given up on Woolworths online shopping. 7 of the last 9 orders had items missing (even though the invoice said they were picked and delivered). 6 of the 9 were delivered late outside the chosen delivery time. One was a day late. Easy to get a refund for the missing item, but I was still left with having to go to the store to buy them myself, so didn't really save any time.

Atleast they were also good to refund the $89 pro-rata.

I wonder if Coles online shopping is any better?

Plenty of good strong shopping trolleys out the front of housing commission flats

  • Have you considered a ride-on-mower? You could mow lawns on your way to the shops and back … maybe even make some pocket money.

Alternatively, I'm sure there's some youtube videos on how to hook up a lawnmower engine to a shopping trolley to make a wicked go-kart.

    • It has crossed my mind.

  • 20-30kg, you could carry that on your back. Good exercise.

    • This is more to prolong my inevitable back problems.

I already have a slight posture problem and a bit of a hunch from heavy carrying.

  • get an electric bike and trailer?

    • Not good with bikes but the idea has crossed my mind.. I am more of a golf cart guy but haha yeah I don't wanna get weird stares lol more so than lugging around a nanna cart.

If I can find a cheap street legal quad bike I might try it.

Highly doubt it exists though unless it's America.

      • Trike then

  • A trolley like this is designed for heavy loads and the larger pneumatic tyres can handle uneven footpaths much better than little hard wheels.

It's not small and convenient, and you'd need to get an upholster to made a custom bag to suit how you want to pack your shopping, but it's the granny trolley on steroids if you're serious about that weight regularly.

You could also go to an engineering/metalwork shop and have them knock you something up similar, but with mesh baskets.

Personally, the cheap car, uber, taxi or home delivery do all feel like better options. Maybe just get home delivery once a month but order crazy-bulk amounts of the heavy stuff (cans, bottles) and bulky stuff (toilet paper, tissues etc) so that gets dropped right to you and then just do smaller shops each week for the filler stuff and perishables.

    • Purchased one of those trolleys on special @ $10.
Tyres need to be pumped and avoid moisture as they rust easily.WD40 is handy.
If mine lasts 2 years,I'm happy.

  • Could be a business opportunity here for you!
