  • Has anyone gone diving with D.I.S before?

  • This is not an open water diving course… That means after this 'intro' course you are not certified to go diving.

The open water for the program above is $595

http://www.aquaticadventures.com.au/page.php?29 <— this Open water gives a free wetsuit to keep once you complete the program $599 program + wetsuit

Also call your dive companies and see if they have classes as opposed to 1 on 1 lessons. You can get deals much cheaper than the ones I listed above.

    • Yeah. Emailed them to ask if this 2 hour lesson can count towards the diving course. Still waiting for them to reply..

      • I am interested to know that as well, some of them do count the intro dive as the first lesson for open water.

  • +1

If they would count this as day one of an open water dive, they probably would loose their diving instructor license. When you take an open water course it is either a weekend intensive (ie 8 hours per day) or spread over many weeks with only a couple hours per week.

If you are looking for something cheaper than the $595 from the company captioned, the then possibly check this one out

    $400

    • I was just asking if it could count towards the actual course in some way. I doubt they'll reply me in time though. Checked out the link you provided. Seems pretty good with the whole range of activities they provide(:

      • I'm not trying to knock your deal. It is a great way to see if you even like being underwater. I know some people who couldn't stand it (felt weird to them, couldn't clear their ears…) so it is a great way to check out if SCUBA works for someone.

Hope you find a SCUBA class that works for you

        • Great way to see if you even like being underwater. Oh yeah! I totally didn't think of that.. I know of a couple of friends who freaked out and refused to join in the open water dive after the pool session. They just sat on the boat. Total waste of $$.
