  • AUD $500 is my sweet spot. Although I would be very impressed if a mi6 was that cheap at launch. :)

$200-$300 is my price range now. My current xiaomi cost less than that and has been working fine for over a year now.

    International edition with Band 28?

  • +3

    It depends:
    1- Price
    2- Band 28/Australian signals
    3- Specs of the phone
4- Software (bloated? rootable? In English?)

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro (3GB/32GB/Band28) was flying off (hypothetical) online shelves by the thousands to ship to Australia.
It had English ROM, decent specs, the Australian 4G frequencies/band 28, and was priced between AU$210-$280.

    • Now they are not shipping to Australia, wtf is with customs and the government?

  • I got the Mi Note Pro and it is the last Xiaomi phone I will buy, so no, not interested in any future Xiaomi phone.

I heard you can fry eggs on that thing.

        SD810?

    • Care to share what the issue was?

      • The phone will get very hot when playing games, rendering it unusable after a while. My main issue is however continuous advertisement asking whether you wants to install apps like Uber, etc with a pop up. I am unable to disable the pop up, it is really annoying. I also have Huawei phone and do not have such issue, so not all Chinese phones are same.

  • I don't recommend Xiaomi at all.

All Xiaomi phones as of MIUI 8 on the global stable rom have ads baked in the security package. It is pretty much have ads on your phone or not be able to play the latest games requiring SafetyNet.

Also in the Downloads tab you need to turn off Recommended Apps or else you will see ads for app downloads. App downloads on average via this system pay anywhere from 5-20 cents on average. Mobile Strike and other apps pay up to $8 to android developers.

The whole MIUI system is subsidised by apps. For all we know there might even be a click fraud bot running in the background of all Xiaomi phones. In which case it would make Xiaomi one of the most expensive waste of cash phones in the world, considering many people can earn '00s from beermoney each year which is effectively advertising fraud.

Waste of Cash in my opinion.

    • To think of it in another way.

It's like me forcing you to install something like Slidejoy and then taking the cash for myself.

Somewhere on the $20-30 a year range.

Technically Xiaomi could even give their phones away for free with ad support. (Possibly with a condition that it is to be used in the Western Market or the full amount would be billed to your CC)

That is how bad it is!

Alternatively it is also like Optus asking you to install that lockscreen but then not coming through with the extra data.

      You'd feel ripped off too.

At least some of these can be turned off:
