McDoanld's CYT Create Your Taste has been discontinued {sad face}

I had heard that the USA McDonald's stopped doing the CYT (Create Your Taste) menu, but I think that Australia has stopped now as well and replaced it with Gourmet Creations (https://mcdonalds.com.au/gourmetcreations)… So disappointed.

After so many years of never going into a McDoanld's, I finally went into one when they introduced CYT. Looks like I'll have to go to New Zealand before they discontinue this amazing menu option as well (https://mcdonalds.co.nz/create-your-taste).

    k?

    • I was being a smart arse because NZ still had CYT according to their website.

  • I can't really find anything to eat at maccas anymore, used to love either the chicken n mayo or the southwest BLT.

  • Thatll be an expensive burger to go all the way to NZ for, not very Ozbargaining of you.

    • yeah at the very least enjoy some fush n chups

    • If it was Fergburger, I could understand, nay, encourage the idea.

      Mouthwatering goodness!

    I read somewhere that 85% of millennials had never tried a Big Mac.
    Mind blown.

  • Is there much of a difference between Gourmet Creations and CYT? Both allow for customizing the burger, right?

      you are somewhat limited to gourmet compared to CYT

    We heard about this last year. CYT was a major fail from the start. There were never enough sales to make a decent profit out of it. All the premium ingredients expired before we could finish them off. So the cost of making a burger was so expensive.

    • I sell Subs at that sandwich shop… They used to always bring in new ingredients that would expire before we could use them. The solution for us was to drop the least popular items and continue with the more popular items. Problem solved! No more wastage.

      But I guess Mickey D's is not set up like that sandwich shop and the whole CYT (making customised burgers on demand) was set for failure (or as OzDJ_ said, below: "CYT was always part of supporting their long term customer self-service strategy").

      Still, it was a great option (for me, at least) whole it was available.

  • CYT was always part of supporting their long term customer self-service strategy. It was never about changing McDonald's mass-market menu approach. A critical mass of McConsumers are now used to using kiosks and mobile phones to place their orders. CYT has done its job, just have a look at your local McRestaurant next time it has a fitout refresh and see how many assisted service registers there are.
