Phone Repair - Deserve a Refund?

Hi,

I had my Samsung Note 5 LCD/digitizer/screen replaced and 2 days later it stopped responding to my touch, only the S pen would work. Then later that day purple splotches started appearing on the screen in the shape of a rectangle outline. Then by the end of the day the whole screen was virtually covered.

I took it back to the guy who fixed it and he said too bad not his problem.

I haven't dropped the phone or done any damage to it, it's only been 2 days since he fixed it. My feeling is the LCD he used was faulty or something somehow?

He is refusing to refund my money ($250).

Not sure what to do next or if I have any options. Anyone been in a similar situation?

This is his problem, the repair was not fit for purpose; how these guys think they can get away with this rubbish is beyond me. Ring up the ACCC guys and talk to them about what happened and see what there opinion is.

Next time only get stuff repaired at an authorised repair centre for your phone.

  • how did you pay?

credit card but physically at the store and paypass with a pin cause of the amount, so yeah not sure about disputing the transaction if that's what you mean

        still do a charge back.

          do a charge back

Chargeback got denied because PIN was used when purchasing…

        • @jamestownfx: what does that mean as to why it's refused?

        • @PVA:

          What we found
We checked our records and found out that the transaction was processed using your Personal Identification Number (PIN). Your PIN is a security measure that effectively authorises a card payment - so you may be liable if you don’t sufficiently protect your cards, devices, PINs and passwords or you don’t immediately tell us when something happens to them. Because you or the cardholder used the PIN for this transaction, we won't be able to refund the money to your account.

    name and shame.

  • I dare say it would have cost that much from samsung to repair it.

If theg said that to me id get my 250 back in sweet revenge….. what ever it may be.

It is 100% a good thing you did a credit card purchase as you can do a charge-back by contacting your bank and disputing that the repair he provided further damaged the phone.

Definitely entitled to a refund, take some pictures for evidence.

Had my screen repaired a month ago as well, while I only have a faint purple mark on mine + some parts missing on the back, your repairer clearly applied too much force on the screen - the purple smudges are permanent, i'd be seeking more than $250.

    I wouldn't pay $250 to repair a phone, I would buy a new phone :)
