  • Is this only on "instock" items or will they allow you to order in?

    • sorry, can’t help you there. perhaps give them a ring. good luck ~ friday 13th can be lucky for some.

  • is this Australian wide?

    • i think it is

  • I did hear about this sale on a Brisbane radio station too.

  • +2

    Melbourne as well.

  • There's a banner on their website about the sale; 14-40% storewide from 8am to 9pm friday 13th only. Website is down however.

  • What about electronic stuffs?

  • They removed the original special they have before and give you an insane sales.

  • I am hunting for an LCD TV… anyone know if LCD is included in the sales?

    • -4

bigw are the cheapest for LCD TV's. Sanya/AWA/Sony/Samsung, they have it all.

    • which one do you want? make and model please.

  • Commercial says storewide in Sydney.
So I'm assuming that's nationawide as well.

  • I have just bought an 1.5TB harddisk for $119…..that seems cheaper than others

    • Sounds alright; that's around the pricepoint 1.5tb seems to be selling at, depending on whether it was internal or external.

  • anyone know if they have any cheap GPS's?

  • -2

It is off the highest ticketed price so for most computer gear it is still more expensive then most other stores..

    • absolutely wrong. Depends on the item.

    • Just talk to the salesperson. Firstly there's the best price guarantee so they'll match anyway + most will beat it for your business

  • +1

They advertised on tv that minimum 13percent off and up to 40% off storewide then when I called Harvey in Brisbane Valley about the IPAD, they told me it is not included. What a deceptive advertisement.

    • I haven't seen the TV ad, but the newspaper ad clearly stated that apple was excluded.

  • I've yet to get my hands on a copy of starcraft 2… Do you think it's worth going there to check? Their website is down..

    • +3

Same, but last time I rang them up, that particular store said that they weren't discounting their games section. Depends on the store I guess.

Their website probably won't have it.

      • I see, thanks for the heads up

      • +1

Just rang a HN store in Perth and they have SC2 and its on sale with 20% the original shelf price of $88. So with the discount it brings the price down to $70 :( That is the same price you can get it every where else……. sale = fail for HN

  • GPS are 20% off

    Televisions 13% off

Discounts are only on items not already reduced.

    30% off computer accessories.

Some good deals but also a lot of stuff still only around street prices…

  • +3

HN is a ripoff and you wont find any bargains.

    • +6

I always thought there is no bargain at HN because you are getting a service with it. All in all I am always disappointed with HN service. The sales personnel reminded me of car salesman.

      • +1

This is so true. I walked in a HN just want to have a look on their SLR, and the sales ask me "Are you going to buy one today?"
        Sounds familiar?

      • +1

Yeah, but the joke goes that the car salesman knows when he's lying, but the computer salesman doesn't. lol!

    What's about Xbox 360?
    yes the website is down….

    • I doubt they will beat the sales they had recently (the $198 ones)

  • Good deals just called a store in Brisbane, latest Onkyo 608 (3D) for $990 however they will do it for 900 rrp $1500 and an awesome amp

    • Drove down to the local store to have a look and was unimpressed.

Most of the good stuff was overpriced with up to 13% off. The xbox 360 was $449 with 40% off

The store was dead and the small items that had 40% off were what I would describe as being odd items you most likely wouldn't need.

I heard the radio ad but cant remember. Finance is still available on purchases?

  • Not bad deal, I had same model for $400 from Good guy last month with 12 months warranty

  • how can you have a 12months warranty when dyson itself offers 2yrs guarantee?

  • +3

Harvey Norman sales always fail. The only good one they had was the gaming sale earlier this year with almost every title (including new releases) from $5-$20 max. was awesome. i have been to all these gimicky sales HN have, and always walk away empty handed. Even with discount you are overpaying!! Buyer be warned. if you want to cut a good deal go to bing lee or JBHIFI.

    • +4

+1 fail! I went to my local HN and they had WD 320GB Elements "on sale" for $88 down from $109 or so. Went to Office Works 5 mins away and they were $79 normal price. Even found a 1TB WD Portable "on sale" for $248, there were about 30 in the bargain bin with the price tag of $299, one of them still had its regular price tag of $199 on it! HN, YOU SUCK!

  • All these fake and deceptive HN "sales". Same old story here people.
They maintain their overinflated RRPs to make it look like a better offer than what you are really getting.

look i like sales just like the next joe, but there is absolutely no point in hardly normal providing a united front and pretending to be a national chain store (albeit franchised) when the deals are not even remotely uniform. in english, i am sick to death of franshisees arbitrarily deciding whether or not they want to participate in "nationwide" HN sales. i heard about this sale on the radio today while hamish and andy were driving me home, and the disclaimer at the end was almost as long as the bloody ad, which included something along the lines of discounts vary store to store and not all stores participating blah blah blah.

im also sick of jack up 10% to knock off 20% - see TT or ACA (cant remember which) next week for an expose on this.

  • I hear ya! and back ya! MISLEADING AND FALSE ADVERTISING. They had mr Harvey Norman in disguise a couple of months back, to expose how average the service is at his own stores, how about EXPOSING how average their deals are! And I heard on the news a couple of weeks ago that they have taken over the 'in administration' but still trading Clive Peeters. I actually saw them starting to swap brands over at my closest C.P. (braybrook, Vic) getting rid of Belkin powerboards for the just as if not more expensive- Monster Brand.

  • I was happy to find a Belkin Surge Protector with Battery Backup (400 VA) at 50% off, therefore $90 instead of $180. The sales guy told me it was a store-specific deal (Thomastown, VIC) though I am not sure if it was for yesterday only to align with the larger sale, or would still be valid today.

I was looking at the UPS anyway (my Sola 305 UPS gave up the ghost after 8 years of faithful service) and knew it was $185 in Clive Peeters, and it suited my purposes so I at least got a good price.

As for the remainder of the goods, I did wander around but didn't see anything outstanding so would agree with the comments of others that this sale was not particularly good value.
