How Much to Sell for - Dick Smith Speakers

I've got an older Dick Smith 5.1 speaker set and amp I don't need any more and have no idea how much I should try and flog it off for?

The speakers are all in good condition and actually have a really nice sound to them.

The amp, well, it turns on, but doesn't seem to produce the power to the speakers any more. It doesn't have HDMI or optical, none of that fancy stuff!

Basically, it is really only worth the speakers and I'm totally unsure how much is a fair price for them.

What would people generally pay for things like this or is it just worth donating them (as I've had years of use and enjoyment)?

Edit - just realised this may need to be moved to electrical and electronics?

  • Are you serious? You might as well say how long is a piece of string. You are implying all speakers are created equal. Unless you can provide specifics on model numbers, simply saying they have a nice sound is completely subjective.

Sure, let me just call my mate whos an expert on Dick Smith stereos.

  • A million dollars.

  • Sounds like it a Home Theatre in a Box (HTiaB) with tiny little surround speakers and a computer speaker "Subwoofer"
They're pretty useless without the HTiaB amplifier..
    $20 maybe

You have a better chance if it was a reputable brand ie. harman kardon, Sony etc., not some cheap chinese Dick Smith Label electronic.

No ones chasing a Dick Smith speaker.

I would just be charitable and give them away, however there may be no takers though.

    • +1 on that. You could drop them at an Op Shop or put them up on Freebay. If you want money for them then put them up on Ebay with $20 as a starter and see if you get anyone bidding.

  • I'm guessing you can still see them at $25 in gumtree or $40 delivered in eBay. If you just want to get rid of it do auction in eBay and let the market decide for you but setting the postage cost calculated to meet AusPost sgipping cost.

I'll be honest. I think you'll be lucky to have somebody take it off you for free, let alone paying you for it…
