Please recommend me some good PC Speakers for Listening to Music

Hi, My Creative T20 PC speakers just died. I have been happy with them, but wondering if there is anything else I should consider?

Requirements are
- main one is good clear stereo sound for listening to music - don't need high volume, thumping base or multi speaker surround
- Space limited, prefer no subwoofer
- Ideally around $100 but could go a bit more if worth it

Thanks

    • +1 for the z623, can go very loud, fill a large room, nice adjustable bass, often see on special for around $99.

        • The two aren't mutually exclusive. This set is still good and clear at low volumes.
But I didn't read the next line, "space limited, prefer no subwoofer" (you should have highlighted that one instead), so maybe this set isn't for him…

        • @Riczter: my bad I didn't think of your comment well enough through you are right

$30 for this: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/st-peters/stereo-systems/son… All you need for PC's, TV's etc.

I have no idea why people spend $$ on sound bars, PC speakers, etc.

    • Sensible solution. I'm using a similar setup which cost $7 in a garage sale.

  • Edifier 1280T seems to have pretty good reviews - price range is $120-$130 online. Check out this review.

  • The creative speakers are my favorite. I suggest to buy again from creative online. If not, bose companion series speakers comes at 149$. They sound simply out of the world.

I would recommend the Edifiers M1360 - $50 from PLE. Got a pair, they are small (the subwoofer is the size of 2 stacked a4 paper reams) and the audio quality is super crisp and clear. I own a pair of Logitech Z623s and would not recommend them to you for your criteria - the subwoofer is VERY big (maybe 4-5x bigger than the Edifiers) and I find that you have to be at least maybe a metre away for optimum sound quality - not sure whether it's just my ears, but when I'm too close to the speakers (like 30-40cm away), I find the audio not as crisp as the Edifiers. Also, the bass/reverb is very, very strong - and it fills the room, even if the actual audio isn't loud. The Edifier's can get very loud too, while the Z623 can get overly booming loud if you so wish.

  • Thanks for the replies, I might the give the Edifier M1360 a go

Jaffar, your comments on the X623 are similar to what I have read in several reviews

And whilst I agree with the mini hifi system idea, I want something that will look sleek and minimal on the desk

    • My desk is very large, so the hifi system suits me and provides somewhere to place my bowl of chocolate …

… unlike the previous Logitech 2.1, but if you must minimalise the M1360 should serve well with the subwoofer on the floor.

    • I just put the mini hifi speakers on the desk. The rest is hidden away on a bookshelf in order to receive signals from the remote.
