USA Mobile Networks - Best Coverage

AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon are the big 4 phone companies in the USA.

I am trying to find out which provider has the best coverage (the USA Telstra equivalent I guess) across the USA. I am looking for a prepaid SIM that will be used for a massive road trip (25states+) across the USA. Cost isn't a factor.

Anyone have any insight or experiences?

  • which handset are you using? and by coverage do you mean data or voice? do you have any specific data requirements (speed or volume)?

    • Definitely data coverage is the most important, it will be multiple devices mainly a Galaxy S7 and LG G5.

No Speed or Volume requirements as such.

  • Verizon for reliable and fast speeds in metro areas, U.S Cellular if you need coverage outside of metro areas,

AT&T would be the best. Verizon mostly does CDMA and getting a sim (used) to be hard.

The AT&T $60 unlimited plan is what I'd recommend.

T-mobile is shit outside big cities

    • One thing I noticed is the excessive use of "Unlimited" in mobile phone advertising in the USA. Its not true unlimited

Its always highspeed 4G Data for 'x amount' of GB, and then shapes to 128kbps for the unlimited component.

      • I think it's $65 for 22GBs

Pretty good if you ask me. Yeah unlimited data doesn't mean unlimited data. Just like "unlimited" with home internet is not unlimited.

I've used both AT&T and T-Mobile before and AT&T was far superior in my LG G4 last year.

  • Hey BucketsJackson, will be heading to USA shortly, I also have the G4 (H815T) you didn't have problems with their different freg. bands? I'm hoping to purchase the AT&T go prepaid sim and get it posted to AUS, so it will work straight away when we arrive into LAX.

    • Ive used AT&T in the USA in an LG G4 no problems.

You cant activate it in Australia because of the confirmation SMS you need to receive. Its pretty easy to find an AT&T store when you arrive and just grab one then - not worth the effort of posting.

      • do they sell this in airport

        • Over 6000 airports in the USA, would you like me to ask them all for you?

        • @Gunther:

Do apologise the one in LAX or SFO
