Hi everyone
I am looking for a new vacuum for our house with a lot of wooden floors, some tiles and some carpet. Must be good with pet hair (2 cats).
Has anyone got any recommendations?
Thanks!

I researched alot when we bought our Miele. The missus wanted a Dyson since its bagless, but they don't suck as well and is a hassle to empty (dust flys out).
Bear in mind the Miele has additional ongoing costs such as bags/filters, but you can obtain them cheaply on ebay.
The bags do last quite a while … will surprise you. Just pick up larger loose stuff first to maximise life. The Miele is a great maching… built to last and it does.
This is the only answer. The C3 is a dream machine!
You'll be amazed how much dust and dirt comes out of your 'clean' carpet.
C3 for sure, we own a Dyson V6 Animal Handstick and I still prefer plugging in my C3 and using that. We have 2 cats and a dog. You can feel the power as well as the suction of particles.
Just make sure you find a deal where you get free bags or at least a significant discount to compensate for the bag costs. Ours was about $500 with 4 boxes of free bags (myer online sale before xmas).
they just aren't as good
Why is that?

I've linked the reasons above.
Great forum topic to read too for you and the OP.
I've never had a drama with our Dysons - yes, multiple. I bought a barrel yers ago and it's been great, we have a hand held and prefer to use it over the barrel vac mostly. Then I found an upright in council cleanup, was going to use the cyclone for a workshop vac hack, but it worked and has been doing garage duties since.
Always suck well, except for the time I used the upright on a bunch of plastering dust and clogged the final filter. Rinsed out the filter and it is good as new again. Still goes OK picking up sawdust, plastering dust, nails, wood chips etc.
I'm happy enough to put up with a little dust spill on emptying because I don't need to worry about replacing bags.
Like all vacuums you do need a bit of maintenance to make sure things aren't clogged up.
To each their own though.
x2 for the miele cat and dog
Godfreys
Watch out for godfreys… they were selling low spec Mile machines.. built for a price.
It is going to last a very long time so get the real thing.
So they suck?
They suck like crazy.. :-) .. and keep on sucking.
Thanks very much for all the recommendations. Miele C3 Cat & dog ordered today for $489 off eBay.
Miele c3 cat and dog. You see them pop up on the bargain pages on here every now and then. You definitely want a bagged vac, don't get "sucked in" to the bagless hype, they just aren't as good. Miele all the way.
