Both around $300 unlocked at JB HIFI, which would you go? Which do you own?
Will either phone get an android update?
Thanks

Cheers
Xa because sony
XA1 is coming in a month or two, might want to wait and see.
Moto G4 Plus?
Xa because if you look properly you can get 2 unlocked XA's for $300
😀
Xperias are really solid, oppo won't get updates
If planning on using the phone for a few years then I'd choose the OPPO for reliability. Sony's flagship Z phones were notorious for design issues and poor warranty service. Not sure if Sony cuts corners on their non-flagship phones but it is a worry.

A Z5 Compact owner here. A year and a half and still going strong. No issues with waterproofing and I wash it regularly. I did have an issue with the micro-USB port dying, which was fixed under the seller's (qd_au on ebay) grey import warranty.
It does get warm, which is related to the processor. I don't think this issue impacts the X series though.
OPPO F1s is still running with android v5.1 (Lollipop) whereas Sony Xperia XA already has android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with planned upgrade to v7.0 (Nougat).
