Aussie Branded Sunglasses

Hi All

Can I please see any feedback from you guys in terms of sunglasses? There are really two kinds:

  1. Italian/US made branded sunglasses but expensive (my preference), but I'm looking for wrapped and non glass, and this combination is hard to get in this category (I'm talking Raybans/MJ/others). By the way, Oakley is made in China (called to confirm) and they still charge a premium although feedback is that the build quality is different with the change of factory.

  2. The others are smaller Aussie brands that are certainly made in China, and of course Cancer Council is the most well known. However, there are other brands available in Outdoor shops like BCF, and the brands are called Stingray, Fish, Bluesteel, Spotters, and Aerial. These ones have a lot of variety at a price of around $50.

Has anyone heard of any of these brands? Are they good quality? I mean Im paranoid about wearing something inferior to damage my eyes. I need one for sports etc so I can drop it etc and it wont matter and it protects me from sunlight.

What do you guys think? Im more after feedback for the smaller brands.

Thank you.

  • I've got a couple of Dirty Dog sunglasses. I find they strike a nice balance between quality and value.

Australian brand but made in China.

Has all the appropriate UV protection and are manufactured to comply with the mandatory requirements of the Australia/New Zealand standards. Give them a look.

    • +1 to dirty dog. I've had 2 pairs that have lasted me years and I'm still using them. Both pairs were $90, polarised and are really tough and durable
