Thats a lot of laptop for the money, I have bought refurbed Dells. I've had to use their warranty for onsite repair, much better than having to send the product back like most brands.

    • Yeh, I've bought at least 10 items from the Outlet, great every time!

Absolutely, I picked a Latitude 14 up for my old man a few months ago for $1199 and that only had an i5-HQ/16GB/128GB SSD, awesome machine!

    • What sort of performance can you expect from these?

  • +1

Worth noting these are the superseded 7559 units.
Being cleared out to make way for the newly released 7567.

A well priced unit in comparison to Alienwear gear.

    • Definitely clearing them out, unless you're dead set on Pascal for higher end gaming, these should do pretty well!

      • That YouTube video for the older model shows IPS display but a TN for the newer model.

        • Apparently the new ones are awful compared to the IPS

    • I'd prefer 7559 over 7567 because of a fact that 7559 has an IPS screen.

    • I'm super happy with my i5 7559, it performs really well, with the all the features I wanted.
Plus I prefer the subtlety of the 7559, the new one is a bit too obnoxious for the office IMO

  • I reckon these could work alright as hackintosh machines. Gonna look into it.

EDIT: Hachintosh Guide for the 7559 - Note that the NVIDIA GTX 960M doesn't work in OS X (yet) but will still work in your Windows partition.

Better than a real Mac especially at this price.

What's the difference between all those model numbers for the Inspiron? They all look the same.

    • They're not model numbers, just their stock reference numbers.

      • Strange that they show the different numbers to buyers when they are identical. It would make more sense to just combine them.

        • Can you just stop talking? lol

I have been buying from the dell outlet for many years. They're not identical since these products belonged to different owners.

        • +3

@sillysam: Why be rude? I've never bought from the outlet before.

        • @jazoom:

I thought you were mocking the dell outlet.

        • @sillysam: Not at all. But it might be nice if they were clear about how to purchase something. At the outlet's home page it even says they have a new buy online thing.

        • @sillysam:
I'm confused, which happens easily…re I5-7000…are they the same? or different?
Where are the DFO numbers listed on the site?
Pretty keen on grabbing one on Tuesday.

  • +1

And how does one actually purchase one of these? The link is just to a comparison chart.

    • +2

Click on the Chat Now link during office hours.

      • -2

Ah. So we can't even buy them now.

        • -2

          Yeah they dont work overtime

        • +1

@eagle90: You say that like I can't buy something from every other online store in Australia right this second.

        • +4

          @jazoom:

You don't understand how the dell outlet works. They don't automate the process, because there are a lot of vultures out there who will purchase everything they possibly can in a few minutes. These are the types of people who then resell it on ebay. They do this to make it fair for all buyers.

The outlet is also not manned by a lot of people, so they sometimes take a whole day to update stock.

        • +1

          @sillysam: Okay. Thanks for explaining.

I think people have misinterpreted my tone as complaining. That isn't the case. Maybe I need to add a smiley face or something. :-)

          @jazoom:

nah (profanity) that. it is lame on dells part.

    I was considering waiting for this deal to come back again; https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/290342 (ThinkPad E570 / Gen7 i7-7500U / 16GB RAM / 256GB SSD / 15.6" FHD / 950 2GB Nvidia / $1022)

Is this Dell a better value for money even though its an extra ~300?

    • +4

The processor in this blows the 7500U out of the water, smaller SSD, but has a 1TB HDD too and a better GPU.

I'd take this over the E570 any day.

    • As above, you're paying $300 for a proper quad core / 8 thread i7 processor and a GTX 960M. The i7 in the Lenovo is only a dual core 4 thread.

There is alos quite a disparity between the 950M and 960M.

    • Depends what you use it for. No doubt this one is better, but it has a smaller SSD and it's another $300.

    • I bought one of these lenovo machines when TA posted it around xmas time.

They're a great machine, fantastic bang for the buck.

That said, my old laptop was a Dell XPS and did me for 7 years, so if I was looking for a laptop now, I'd jump on this deal.

My advice is go for this if you need a laptop right now, don't think you'll do any better and hopefully you'll have no screen bleed, which seems to be common with the Lenovo.

  • +1

If anyone wants to know what 960M paired with quadcore i7 feels like, I get on Rise of the Tomb Raider 50-60 frames on medium graphics for 1080p Ultrawide. So this will be more than enough for competitive games as they tend to be less technically demanding.

  • +1

Holy crap, as new? That's fantastic price for a 7559 even as a preowned.

    • Does as new mean they were preowned? How do they end up on Dell's site for resale if they were preowned but not refurbished?

edit. Went on chat with Dell and they are saying these are units that "As New unites have never been used by end user" and "these are generally the units which are ordered by customers but before it gets delivered to them, order is cancelled or delivery is not accepted"

  • I am looking to buy a laptop that can drive two QHD 2560 x 1440 monitors, ie. U2715H. Can the GTX 960M do that or do I have to get the new 1060?

    • drive or game? 1050 will drive 2 QHD, gamming then pass on the 1060 ~ you need a 1080/ti

      • Only some light gaming. Also is there much different between the laptop version vs desktop version of the same model 1060/1070?

        • The 10xx series are the actual desktop GPU's so they're a lot better than the 9xxM series, usually slightly slower to keep themselves within heat/power limits. This will do some light gaming as plmko said above.

This only has one HDMI 2.0 output so won't drive dual external displays.

        • FHD 1080p @ 60fps in AAA games with high to max settings = GTX 1060
QHD 1440p @ 60fps in AAA games with high to max settings = GTX 1070
2x QHD 1440p @ 60fps in AAA games with high to max settings = GTX 1080 Ti

Also FYI: a GTX 1060 is 150% more powerful than a GTX 960M.

        • @Viper8:
A 1060 should be much more powerful than that compared to a 960m.
A desktop 1060 is nearly 2x faster than a desktop 960 averaged across a number of games
The difference between a laptop 1060 and 960m should be even greater.

        • @Lief1250:
          So 150% faster means 2.5x…

        • @Viper8:
          Well that's technically right.
It's a real confusing way to put it though.

        • @Lief1250:
          If you say so…

        • @XeKToReX: Thanks. Yeah I should look at the number of graphic ports.

    • Can someone please suggest me cheapest laptop with HDMI 2.0 to run 4k@60HZ. I am not after gaming, just need to connect laptop with 4kHDR TV.

      • Anything with a display port can do that…

        • Sure, but I haven't seen any TV's with Display Port. Presumably they exist, but if the user in the Rihanna's sky has a 4k TV without DP, a laptop with DP might not help them much.

        • +1

          @gmatht:

You can get adapters for a few dollars.

  • I wish my old 17" Studio was broken and I had money lying around. Mostly the money lying around bit though.

  • Define "as new". Are these second hand?
Also why are there six different models with identical specs? They're not individual laptops as each model has multiple quantity.

    • +1

As new - probably a cancelled order or return unopened.

That's their stock number, not model numbers.

    • Would be superseded stock. Bought as new and it was brand new.

My latest purchase was refurb - minor cosmetic blemishes.

Never bought Dell new. However bought Alienware new via eBay sale on Dell and then eBay released a 20% coupon at the same time.

  • +1

    Thanks op
    Got 1!

I don't think there was much stock :
    there's no stock for: 4019070IP & 4019053IP
I ended up finding stock in this one: 4019114IP

    • Glad you got one! Thanks for info, I've updated the post!

  • Is the SSD in this one a regular SATA or one of the smaller M2's?

    • Has an M.2 SSD (only one 2.5" slot for the HDD). M.2 only runs off SATAIII rather than PCIe though.

  • edit: sorted

  • for $1500 delivered I got the 1050ti version of this from dell/ebay on a recent offer and its worth the extra IMO.

keep an eye out for a deal that's for sure! I'm typing on mine right now and wow

    • Yeah discount stacking. That's what I did with my Alienware X51. Dell had price reduction and bonuses put in at the same time as an eBay coupon for 20% off.

  • Is this thread dead? I'm going to buy this tomorrow. Does anyone know if JBHIFI will price match? They're not refurbished, they're new so I don't see any potential issues.

    • Worth a shot but probably not, I'd say you won't have any issues getting one from here still

    • No one will price match a refurbished model price, its probably cheaper than JB can get it…

  • Ok just got myself one. I couldn't use the cashback code though, they wouldn't let me

  • +1

Thanks OP, put in an order today. By their quantity available, would mean there is one or none left of the Inspiron 15 7000.

  • Ordered one too. Sales rep was useless and unresponsive though. Not sure if that's standard Dell service or if I got unlucky.

    • Normally they're pretty good, if a little bland :/
