What's a Reasonable Time Length to Wait for a Seller to Post an Item on eBay

Hey all as the title suggests if you're an eBay user like me how long do you think it's acceptable to wait for a seller to post the item (not receive it) Currently have quite a few items that haven't been sent ranging from 1-2 weeks all Australian sellers. I'll usually wait a few days 3/4 before politely asking when they'll be able to post an item and then If I don't get a response I open an item not received case around 2 weeks after I paid.

2 working days after payment should be plenty

I've never looked, but are there ebay T&C's governing time to post?

    • Yes, check the handling time under the 'Postage and payments' tab in the listing.

      • Yeah all my sellers have listed 2-3 business days, I think that's the default time frame eBay sets.

  • If it hasn't shipped within 5 business days I would be asking why. If I bought in Australia I am likely paying extra for quicker delivery.

  • 3-5 Business days.

I also wait about 4-5 days and then write 'Hey there, is it possible to send the tracking number as I would like to get an update of the status?' and that usually gets those pesky sellers to their post offices.

Geez I wish you guys would buy from my store, we seem to deal with mostly nut jobs. We post everything within 24 hours, I get complaints from people if it hasn't arrived within a day or two let alone just posted in that timeframe (usually waiting at the post office for collection too).

Usually our email convos are one of the following:
"Yeah sure it was totally reasonable to expect that delivery to rural WA in two business days with standard post, definitely disregard the estimate saying 3-6 business days, I'll get right on chasing that up for you."
"How silly of me to think you would have found that tracking number, after all we did only upload it to eBay and organise email and sms alerts for you."

OP check the postage and payments tab for their estimate. Can't expect too much from personal sellers but I would expect business sellers to post within the estimate every time.

    Anyhoo,
Ordered: 8 Mar at 09:37 PM ACST
Shipped: 8 Mar at 11:51 PM ACST

And yes, I have got already got a Tracking number.
    The seller is in Shenzhen.

  • max i wait is 5 days but that will be shown in feedback.

  • Top rated sellers generally have 1 day handling time.

  • Surely within 2 business days or they shouldn't be in business.

    • I buy a lot of second hand stuff on eBay 90% of the time from small/new eBay sellers.

Most big/business sellers I've bought from always ship within a day.

I sell 2nd hand items and I post the item next day after payment is received or same day if I get sufficient time to get to the post office after work. I always tell the buyer if I am unable to post it soon.
