      typically the output is controlled by the tip.. eg auto detected..
      my car laptop charger runs like that…

        The output must be selected manually with this device, so it can be dangerous if used without care. It's perfectly safe if used properly. It's exactly what I've been looking for and is a great price, cheapest on staticice is $227 plus shipping. Great post!
