Cooking Gas Stove Versus Induction Stove?

So age old debate gas vs electric for stove top cooking pros and cons and cost benefit analysis?

Comments

  • Gas stoves are objectively better for cooking.

Induction stove tops are safer for children and easier to clean.

    • Well said.

I think going by at least standard sydney rates gas works out cheaper but don't quote me on that.

  • I have had an electric induction cooker in my kitchen for 10 years and it still looks as good as the day it was installed.
I have had the kitchen completely refurbished: new units, sink, new Bosch appliances throughout, even new floor and I kept my induction hob.
    It is that good.
It is not quite as good as gas for cooking, but unless you are a gourmet chef it makes no difference. Also it is much, much cleaner.
Pans remain clean also, with none of that burning and discolouration up the sides.
I have solar, so apart from the evening ,meal cost is not a factor.

  • Induction is more efficient and gives you an exact power. It will also automatically turn off if left on accidentally. It's a dream to clean.

As solar power becomes more popular and more people decide to ditch gas, induction will be the norm.
