Getting the most out of Domino's

What's better than cheap pizza? 2 pizzas for the price of 1 cheap pizza. Tips on how:

  1. Order complicated custom pizzas. This serves two purposes: a) it makes it more likely there'll be mistake in making it. b) you can avoid surcharges for chicken, etc. try to balance your subtractions and additions. I.e. a Vegerama minus capsicum, garlic, sundried tomatos, add extra cheese, pepperoni and chicken. Use web ordering as much as possible for this.
  2. If something goes wrong, ring and complain. There's "100% satisfaction guarantee" printed right there on the side of the box. Ring that number! Do it as soon as possible, it will make it easier for them to find your order in the system. If you picked it up, let them know you don't want to drive out again to collect a fixed pizza, and request in-store credit for next time.
  3. Don't always do this if you're constantly ordering from 1 store. Switch it up a little.

Anyway, using this method I've gotten some kind of compensation for mistakes 50% of the time. YMMV, and this won't be everyone's cup of tea all the time (sometimes you just want it done right the first time). But if you're not super fussy, and might enjoy an additional free pizza with a minor imperfection, I'd give this method a try.

Anyone else have tips on dealing with Dominos?

  • That's a bit cheeky I say. I know how to get a free drive thru in McDonalds.. but it doesn't sound right when you're doing it on purpose. Does it?

    • "Free" drive thru in Maccas — if you meant not making order when you drive thru, but take the next guy's burger, then someone did that to ME once and I wasn't impressed. Don't do it!

As of complaining about missing ingredients in a complicated customised pizza. Hmm I hope no Domino's employees read this forum :)

      • Geesh. Yeah, that "trick".. so did Maccas replaced your order?

As of the Domino's employee, lucky my housemate reading this with me just quitted few weeks ago :)

      • Wouldn't someone notice you gliding past the payment window?

        • Yeah. They apologise that they have "accidentally" drove through, but then they took the food anyway…

  • Actually the best part of this is teh ability to customise the piizza - getting rid of items that often are small in quantity and replacing them with extra cheese makes it a better pizza. I know some may like the Oregano, but really i find it has no real effect on the taste. And a Supreme minus, with extra cheese, ham and say mushrooms, beats a standard ham and pineapple any day at the same price - try it you'll be pleasantly surprised.

And the tip on 100% guarantee is not bad to remember if the do really stuff it up. One time I didn't get the mod's it was just a standard supreme, in that case I should have complained.

    • Hmmm pizza customization.. I gotta try that one this week!

    wow thats really tight!
lucky im not that desperate to save a cent hey?
were already using voucher codes, doing whats listed is not only unethical its wrong

That sounds a little dodgy however I do make sure that they do my pizza's correctly. They do have a problem with customisation.

I have recently ordered a Godfather pizza minus olives and add extra pepperoni. A few times when I have picked up my pizza they have not done the double pepperoni This usually results in us getting an extra pizza to take home.

  • You guys are PROS at getting the most out of what is already really cheap. I love it HHAHAHA

  • I've finally tried getting the chicken without surcharge. It worked!! From now on, my $4.95 pizzas will have chicken in it! :)

you guys are all a bunch of scammers…i work at dominos pizza as a manager and not only do i have to deal with staff and the screw ups they do. but you people that deliberately try and scam us out of more food and labour costs just proves that the world has turned into dishonest people that wont pay full price for something as cheap as pizza. i'd like to see some of you idiots even try and run a pizza store. take into consideration that what your scamming is actually what were working so hard for to actually live. not only are you scamming pizza but your scamming our right to a hard weeks work and decent wage….
Just think about who else your scamming though. not only the hard working employees but your also ruining it for the people that supply dominos their food etc.. if you continue doing this stuff you may actually run a dominos store out of business or into debt..so i suggest that perhaps next time your going to get a $6.95 pizza delivered or anything else similar, which i dont honour anyhow because i know its a scam, think about everyone your fuckin around in doing so.

While I don't agree with _linus for deliberately 'scamming' the system, I do however think that getting cheaper pizzas from coupons through web orders are completely legitimate. This is something that your company allows and accepts through their web ordering system. Don't blame the consumers for being able to find cheap & legit deals, blame your own company for not having a better system to control the distribution of offers based on per store basis.

so i suggest that perhaps next time your going to get a $6.95 pizza delivered or anything else similar, which i dont honour anyhow because i know its a scam, think about everyone your fuckin around in doing so.

How is this a scam? We legitimately make purchases through a website that is controlled and maintained by your company and your company accepts the coupons and allows the purchase. Not honouring the discounted (coupon) deals will not make you or your company look good. If you think you're loosing money out of this, take it up with your head office for not having a better planned system. Accusing your customers of being scammers just because they are able to purchase $6.95 pizzas which your company's web ordering system accepts is simply not cool. If this is your attitude towards your customers, make sure you let me know which store you manage and I'll make sure I'll get everyone I know to avoid doing business with your store.

      • I agree with pauly's comments. Does selling one $4.95 pizza give staff less commission, is what I'm wondering now…. If not, then why the hate? ._.

I'm a fan of Dominos, and it's handy to have cheap deals around since I'm a poor student. I don't even eat from competitors like Pizza Hut, which has PH direct (kinda cheap but not as cheap haha). Isn't getting people to continue eating your pizzas a good thing too? :P

  • wow. ok, this thread is back from the dead?

so looking back on this post, i'm trying to remember what inspired it in the first place. i think it was an extremely limited budget and lack of mobility, so dominos had become a weekly staple for me at the time.

i'll concede this behaviour is a little cheeky, but there's no scam to it. that would be illegal behaviour, which none of this is. in addition to the good point pauly makes about, let me point out:

    1. if people can exploit the fact that dominos has such a high turnover of unskilled staff that any non-standard order is more likely than not to be made with mistakes, perhaps dominos should invest more in staff training or quality control by store managers.
    2. if people can exploit the way that orders are priced via the dominos online ordering system, perhaps dominos should invest the time and effort to "fix" their ordering system to remove these "loopholes".
    3. if people take advantage of the dominos "100% satisfaction guarantee" perhaps dominos should concede that they may only get their orders right 40% of the time, and give a 40% satisfaction guarantee, or see point 1.
  • How is it a "SCAM" to legitimately use a voucher code for the purpose it was intended? We don't make them up ourselves, these are vouchers put out (at some point) by Dominos. Most have an expiry, and if not that is hardly our fault.
I have 4 kids to feed, my teenage son eats like a horse, and cheap pizza is a nice treat.
The only SCAM is when Dominos tries to charge you $10 per pizza because the voucher expired yesterday, which is why I always order by internet now.
As for "Pizza Customisation" it is the Dominos pricing policy that is at fault there. If I want a Hawaian, but with tomato and chicken, they'll charge me two surcharges, but if I start with a supreme, delete toppings and then add the tomato and chicken it costs nothing extra.

    • I agree, the only scam here is the regular price of domino pizzas!

Considering they are actually small in size, for their "large" pizzas, some times the coupon prices are the proper reflection of their price.

The local Dominos is actually running a 4.95 for all pizzas this week, so I don't see how using the coupons on this site can be considered a "scam"

If it works on your website, the transaction better be honored!

And yes please tell us which store you are the manager of, and I think it would be best if we don't actually order from your store. It helps us, and it helps the complaining manager too I think!

    • -2

Crazy daz you are a waste of time. I wish Dominos would adopt pizzas way of charging dicks like you the deleting toppings. but we decided not to charge you for this minor inconvienence so instead you exploit it. You fail at life

      • It not our fault your internet ordering system is pure fail. How hard is it to design a system where if the pizza has chicken on it, charge the applicable fee!

  • If Domino's doesnt like it, maybe we should promote Pizza Hut vouchers instead.

These "scams" have been going on for ages. Domino's only response to "misuse" was to cancel coupon codes even on those who had real coupons - IMO not very ethical.

So rather than shoot everyone in sight Domino's can just build protections against what they determine as abuse. Simple programming or rules - coming here to complain and abuse people who discuss alleged holes in their systems is frankly rather naive and IMO unprofessional.

Dominos should encourage sites like, OzB, BS and WP so they can discover ways to fix their systems - that is if they really do need to be fixed. Hey its cheap - a few extra slices of pepperoni and cheese, in exchange for free system debugging.

So Neyland just send the URL to your HO, and spend your time watching the quality of the Pizza's leaving your store, you'll probably save Dominos more that way.

  • So lets all defect to Pizza Hut… any one have any coupons for Pizza Hut?

  • I just went to paintball last week and there was about 300 people turn out. This place includes lunch and it's one pizza per person. They went to dominos!!!!!

    300 pizzas in one order!!!

Be quiet u silly dominos manager and maybe open a store near this paintball field

  • Oh my gosh! 300 pizzas! -mind boggles to contemplate- …Were they all hot when you got them? XD I can imagine an army of pizza slaves and towers of ovens working to produce that…lol. XD

Which paintball place did you go to, by the way? Just curious. :) Wondering whether I should go for one some time..or don't need to answer, since it'll hijack this thread. XD

  • Where is "the manager" neyland?
Online order is through your official website using your legitimate coupon.
As a manager, you would be sued/fired when you call people scammer for using your legitimate ordering website.
if you give your real name, i will report your statement to any Domino's contact i can find on Domain's website, seriously.

You guys should just be happy with all your cheap vouchers that you have no idea where there origin is or what expiry date or anything about it at all except the code. Why are you all attacking neyland ? it reminds me a little bit of flys to [beep] doesnt it? one person tries to explain what your actions do to other dominos shops and you all attack him. I would love to see one of you try to be the store manager in a dominos pizza shop. you would all crack. none of you have probally even worked a day in hospitality/retail. The word scammers comes from scum that try and get somthing for nothing or a freebie where it is not justified. You guys dont realy scamm dominos by using these coupons, but instead cause a headach to managers that are trying to run a legitimate business and try to earn a decent salary. If i was to ask any of you where you got the codes from youd have absolutely no idea about where it came from. Its marketeted to particular areas.

You tell me your vouchers are valid but where is the coupon with the dominos marketing? "oh its an online voucher". Ok can you tell me what site you got it from? no. what the expiry date is. duno. The most common reply is i just have a code. The reason Dominos changed to codes is to stop using coupons that wernt designed to. As for "people" like John, "pizza customization" - define this- someone who is a burden on todays society. you save $2.50, may i suggest you get a job? Stop becoming the bottom feeder on society.

I think it is funny how you all protest what leyland is saying, i mean seriousely, if you all left us to go to pizza hut im sure we wouldnt miss you! but where else can you buy a online pizza (supreme) and swap the capsicum for chicken, the onions for olives, beef for extra cheese, bacon for Don smoked bacon, mushroom for fresh tomato and so on so on, Pizza Hut, Nope, Eagle boys ? nope. Are you really that perthetic ? i mean seriously do you wake up in the morning and think to your selves damn, i want to save my self $1 today ? do you guys know how long it takes to make one of your "custom pizzas" it makes the makeline into a [beep] fight bottle necks the makers and puts the makeline on a holt all for this one pizza that you order and use $4.95 (thats not even valid in our store thats why u go online) and pay for it on credit so you dont get charged the transatction fee !!!!Do you guys have any idea on the food cost on $4.95? or labour for that mater.I dont have any problems with looking for a bargin etc but i mean seriously, $6.95 for a pizza really that expensive? And you have a winge if you dont get 4 extra slices of pepperoni on your "custom pizza". Get a life. the only reason leyland hasnt commented back it because he has one. I must say the only reason im on here is to rectify "glitches" or mistakes made by particular departments in head office. What i do i find cheapie sites like this one. find all the scrooges like your selves, and send off the coupons to I.T and get them removed from my shop. I must say it really is quite small but i take quite alot of pleasure to see the faces of the regular $4.95 "Custom Pizza" regulars having to use other vouchers haha. I must say you guys should take your cheap coupons and be happy. Stop winging and deal with it.

    Happy coupon hunting !

    • Right. If a company is going to offer a voucher for their goods and services, then they should have thought it through to start with. Presumably, given that Domino's offers pizzas at times for $3.95, then they're still making money in some manner. If they weren't, they wouldn't be offering such a discount.

As for the cost factor, that's why this site exists. Whilst a few dollars off might not seem massive, compared to the initial cost of the item, it's a decent percentage off in this case.

For some people, it might not matter, but everyone's entitled saving money, and you'd be probably be hard pressed finding someone who would pay more out of principle.

      • Dominos doent make money on $3.95. WE LOSE money. thats why its called a customer appreciation day. but i guess its customer appreciation day every day huh ?. You have no understanding on how the common world works. Understand what you read first. I look at quality and product rather than scavenging around internet sites for hours looking for coupons.

(Edited by scotty — personal attack removed)

        • "Customer appreciation day"??? PML are they running a charity now? Of course they are making money by selling volume.

        • QUALITY???? Lone, I don't think you should boast about Domino's quality. There is no quality control at the dominos I go to in Modbury, SA. Every week I order the same pizza. Sometimes it is delicious, and sometimes it is SO terrible. Last week, it was SO bad I took photos. It was actually so terrible it was hilarious. Even the dog wouldn't eat it. It was supposed to be a thin and crispy base. The base was translucent, and so soggy that it folded back on itself when you lifted it up. Barely any topping. The only thing that stops me complaining about the terrible QUALITY of these pizzas is that they only cost $4.95. I mean no point complaining for $4.95 right, and sometimes they are good. So please don't boast about quality, as there is NO QUALITY control there. Get real for one moment. I would be happy to send you photos of this god forsaken pizza if you would like to see dominos so called quality… give you something else to rave about!

_linus. My comment for you and how to deal with dominos. stop ordering. *(Blah)*

(Edited by scotty — remove personal attacks)

    • Bit harsh there…

Saving $1 on a pizza every week equals $50 a year. Even more if the saving is higher.

If it's such a big deal, take Linus's advice and sort it out with your head office - not attack people who take advantage of your coupons.

I am closing this thread now. Fights between Domino employees and their paying customers are not going too well here. Although it's interesting to see how someone who calls us cheap when we try to save $1-$2 per pizza, when at the same time he is complaining how little profit he is getting. May I invite you to join bargain hunting and money saving at OzBargain as well? :)

    Some verdict — for customers.

    • I think complaining about the customised pizza is going a bit too far. Don't do it.
    • However if Domino's continues to distribute coupons — then use them! Post them if you found a good coupon. Maybe you will include the expiry date + your area as well so we can know the source.

    For Domino's

    • If selling pizza below cost is not making you any profit, making your employees distressed (to a point that they come online and rant about it), then you might not want to continue to fight this price war. Don't distribute pizza coupons that you cannot afford.

    Cheers,
    Scott
