Xbox Live Account - AUS or UK?

Hi all, just looking for a little advice if possible!

I'm going to be signing up for a new XBox live account soon, and I have access to UK & AUS bank accounts (aswell as both ebay/amazon etc accounts too), is it worth creating a UK Live account for the (better?) games included with live? I also think there are more game & subscription deals in the UK as there's a much bigger player base.

I understand I won't be able to (for example) buy a $100 game card at Woolies and use it if I go down the UK account road. This is fine, as I buy all these codes from the UK anyway.

I don't want to be too limited though, for example if I want to subscribe to the EA Access monthly pass; or being matched with players in UK (as too high ping etc).

Also, if I buy a game download code from ebay.co.uk, i'd hope it would work on any account (AUS/UK) I'v chosen, in the same way i'm hoping the BF1 code that came with my console will work whichever account I choose.

I do have a UK Live account somewhere from years ago but i'd probably just get a fresh one anyway unless there's a compelling reason to re-use it (i didn't have many downloaded games linked to it i remember).

Any ideas? Thanks!

    K.I.S.S.

Xbox AU account will be fine. Barely ever see price discrepancies with Gold deals, and you can buy Xbox games from anywhere (cdkeys.com etc) and play on your AU account.

    • I'm pretty sure the free Monthly games are different though?

Nope, monthly games are the same globally, except where a certain region doesn't allow that game (like China/Japan or something)

        US/UK/Aus - all same!

        • Ah sweet! Didn't realise. Any suggestions on where to get Live Subscripton? had a look on key. websites but can't find them in AUS?

          @Bobby123:

Doesn't have to be bought from Aus ;)

          $62.90 - 5% through Facebook

Probably about the best you'll find. Can also try booting up your Xbox and see if you get any offers for a new account

Just make an AU account. You can always have multiple wallets to buy games in other regions.

  • I have bought the odd download code from Amazon UK onto my AU Xbox account when they have had silly price discrepancies - all been fine.

You did have to have a UK address. Australian Embassy seemed to work ok.

    • I usually pick a pizza place. For the US it's important to pick a sales tax free state.

  • Thanks everyone!

  • Be aware that if your Xbox is australian from June 1 games sourced from Non Australian store will no longer work on Aus Coded Xbox units.
They have been sending emails to people Since January.

Same with XBOX LIVE GOLD credits, only Australian Codes can be used on Aus sourced Xbox units.

    • 'Sourced from non-Australian store' - does this just mean if I paid for a game in any other currency than AUD? I'm assuming this new rule doesn't affect download codes bought online etc.

    • If true I haven't received any of those emails nor can I find anything online since about 2014.
