Set in a fictitious 30 years before FINAL FANTASY XV, this game features retro-style inspired graphics centered around a fast-paced combat system with influences from modern gaming. The in-depth combat system blends intense attacks, devastating magic, mighty summons and unique companion attacks into a singular gaming experience through three diverse locations in the world of FINAL FANTASY XV.

Restless before bed, young Noctis asks his father, King Regis, to tell a fairy tale full of fantasy and adventure instead of just another generic bedtime story. Regis begins with a peaceful day being disrupted when monsters raid the royal capital, Insomnia. Young Regis, joined by Weskham, starts his adventure from the royal capital. Eventually they are joined by friends Cid and Clarus, where they travel to the plains of Duscae only to discover a mysterious cave where their enemy resides

Glad i got the normal version

    • Glad to see they giving it away

  • forgive my ignorance but what is this, DLC ? is it a game or is it one of the movies or animes that came out about this story (like we really needed movies and shows to give us more backstory of the dudebros lol)

    • +2

      It's a separate game

  • +3

Its another low res 2D-type RPG game - I think it takes place many years prior to the main games timeline, but don't think it carries much story development.

I can't work out if you or jv is the worst poster on Ozbargain.

      • +10

At least he's not going on about how bad Xbox is, and how Playstation exclusives are the best thing.

      • +11

jv makes me giggle sometimes. This guy makes me ashamed to be a gamer.

    • +2

I still remember the scene that my colleague unboxed his special edition Max Payne PC version game which came with “special edition items” at a price of 139.95, at the end of that year I bought Max Payne complete edition from steam for 20 aud and those“special edition items" are included, price tag for this DLC is 50 cents.

    • Lol..New to gaming?

    • there is never any excuse for pre-ordering a game ever under any circumstances

      • Except for the occasional collectors edition, which recently would be Jap version of Zelda and Sword Art

      • +2

Except for Nintendo products. They love artificial scarcity.

    • +1

Worse still for those who paid for the 'A KING'S TALE' edition like I did…cost like $30 extra and this extra game was the main drawcard. Ok so I got to play it months earlier but wow, my Ozbargain spirit feels like it has been defiled.

    • +1

To be fair i dont know why this guy is getting so downvoted. He's basically saying he bought something which was then made free and feels ripped off for buying it. That sounds totally reasonable to me.

      • +1

If you don't game much then I guess you'd feel ripped off but this does happen..So it's really nothing new.

      • Because that doesn't stop this from being a "deal", If anything it proves that this is a deal. No matter what you might think of Sony's practices with giving this away for free now, it boils down to "more expensive before, free now = deal".

        • But the deal came about from something unfair and immoral. Like if someone tortured cows then gave the beef away for free. The deal would be wrong cos we shouldnt promote the evil.

        • +1

@suicine94: lolwut? You'll get us back to talking abotu the cage eggs deal that sent OzB into meltdown haha

        • @Iggemo:

Soz which one was that? Link plz

  • Brilliant! Thanks OP!

  • Excellent! You wanna hear a funny story? rang 30 EB Games to order a strategy guide. Ended up getting it shipped all the way from Geraldton WA :P (desperation in todays times)

    • I think the eBook version was free @ Amazon.
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/287426

      • Downloaded that too. Can say they are chalk and cheese in comparison.

      • +1

Err, I dont think thats the ebook version of the guide. It looks like something some random guy wrote.

    • Why didn't you just call one and see if they had it elsewhere?

    • +1

Don't buy guides from EB, get them from Book Depository heaps cheaper.

      • +2

Yes, and pre-order them at Book Depository if you know you want them as the pre-release price is often cheaper than price on release. For example Mass Effect Andromedia collectors edition guide is currently $29 delivered but will jump in price on/near release.

      • +1

Had no idea about Book Depository. Thank you! :)

  • -2

Not sure what it is. Grab it anyway. Never paid for Deluxe editions just Standard FFXV, the game is not worth the special price with special add-ons

    • +3

Knew ppl will neg me. Most people would agree the game started off ok but it gets repetitive with its crappy side quests. It isn't worth the pre order or deluxe edition at all.

  • +1

For the chivo / trophy hunters, this does include them.

I think only 13 or so on PSN, still better than nothing, but it pales next to the full 1000GS on Xbone.

I wish Sony made everyone include a plat this gen too, but to be honest, I'm over my hunting days anyways.

  • +1

Finished and pretty much wasted 70hrs on the actual FFVX game.

The actual FFV game had potential as it had a decent tragic plot and twist.

However its poor supporting actors, laughable script, terrible editing (major battle with some villians were "edited" out) and rubbish director ruined the whole story. Don't get me started on the game play and open world design.

How come I have a feeling that I would enjoy this mindless "beat them all" style A Kings tales better?

    • Agree with you I can't keep playing now Chapter 8 onwards. Its a drag

    • Trying to correct a typo. "FFXV"

    • Played the main game… got bored after 30 minutes. Loaded this beat 'em up… next thing I know, it's 2 hours later.

  • +1

Dumb question, do you need the base game, or is it standalone… ?
    Cheers

    • Standalone

      • Nice, though it was probably an add-on in an arcade in game or something…
        Peace

  • Great OP; for some reason it allowed me to add it to my account as well.
