How much an used Wii U 32GB will be worth after the release of the Wii Switch?

Hi all

I am tempted to buy an used Wii U 32GB after the release of the Wii Switch.

How much do you think it is worth? Are the prices going to drop?

Currently on eBay, I'll say that the price of the console is around $180 (with no game).

I am aiming for 130 or less, is it realistic?

Thanks

  • Probably not man, the Wii U didn't ship many units unlike the wii, so it will most likely stagnate a little. If your gonna be a cheapskate, buy an original Wii for like 30-50 bucks

  • Do you mean after the release of the Switch?
The Wii Mini released 4 years ago.

  • Wii Mini??
Do you mean the Nintendo Switch?

I'd say you may as well wait the 4 days since you've already waited 5 years. See the listings yourself when the time comes.
I can imagine people would sell off their old consoles, yes. I wouldn't expect it to get to $130 but who knows.

$130 is a little optimistic I think. You may have missed the boat when it comes to uber cheap Wii U prices for consoles in good-to-new condition. If I were you, I'd raise your budget by $70 and snag something now in good condition while you can. They are only going to appreciate from here on since all retail stock was recalled and they are no longer in production. It's going to become a collectable & niche console very quickly due to the low amount sold through to customers.

Why did you want a Wii U specifically?

    Troll post

  • I ended-up buying a Wii on eBay for $20. I bought a while ago Zelda Skyward Sword for Wii ($10 clearance). I thought to get a Wii U but the price are still high, especially just to play one game.

    Thanks guys

You can trade a Premium Wii-U in plus one game at EB and they'll give you a switch for $299 :P But that's the best trade in you'll get.

But buying a Wii-U now is pretty silly. If you don't have a Wii-U or a Switch and you want to play Zelda, just buy a Switch.

The Wii-U is dead. That's not hating on it. Production of the unit stopped a few months ago and there have been no new games teased for the platform. Wii-U, despite the fact that in 2014 and 2015 it was still arguably the best new console in terms of games, is totally and undeniably dead. Get a Switch or don't play Zelda, that's your options, or you're going to take a pretty big loss.
