Bought one of these from the the last deal for $319. Just a general question about battery life, everyone has been raving about the battery life however mine only lasts 4 hours.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Was i meant to charge it for an extended amount of time for the first charge?

You might have a lot of windows updates that laptop is busy downloading and installing the first time it's used. Once Windows has finished maintaining itself, the battery usage should even out and you should get closer to the 8 to 9 hour mark.
Another thing to check is possibly bloatware, malware or spyware. If your battery usage is high all the time, you might just want to reformat and start over.
My daughter's one regularly lasts a day at school then homework then another half day at school. She isn't very good at charging which drives me nuts because I get edgy if my phone gets under 40%.
But obviously that is on and off, but under 4 hours assuming you aren't flogging it on full brightness, full load is not right.
Can you install an app that monitors battery usage by app so you can see what is sucking the juice?
Thanks for the comments guys! I've just been browsing the internet/ using this for word processing. Nothing too intensive I think. Will give those things a shot and hopefully it'll sort itself out
You can use the built in windows battery report tool as well.
Press Windows + X on the keyboard
click Command Prompt (Admin)
run the command
powercfg /batteryreport
Now open the HTML file with a web browser
The file path should be C:\WINDOWS\system32\battery-report.html
The report will give you more information about the batteries in your system, as well as how they've been used over time. Perhaps of most usefulness to most people is the battery life estimates—how long you can expect your battery to last based on actual usage—and how it's changed since you first installed the OS. It's more accurate and precise than relying on the battery icon in your taskbar.
wifi, bluetooth, playing music and videos continuously while surfing web with java?
If you are marathoning some tv shows or movies 4 hours sounds about right.
That or 4 hours of YouTube or other media streaming online websites.
Remember to use an antivirus and to clear your history.

4 Hours is decent based on your usage
You cant expect to realistically get 9 hours out of a laptop when you're thrashing the CPU / Heavy Usage
