Replacement to Yamaha rx-v2067 - v1081 or v2081

Hi all, my trusty Yamaha RX-V2067 receiver died after 7 years of service… I had taken out extended warranty on the amp, so I've ended up with a store credit to the replacement value at hardly normal… $1500~

I am considering my options for replacements now, with the short lists of the Yamaha RX-V1081 or V2081 the latter being more powerful per channel and closer to that of the '67, and with the ability to run 7.2 and Atmos speakers also, where as the 1081 is only 5.1 and Atmos…

I guess given I don't have a 7 speaker setup yet, would I notice the drop in power if I went the 1081, or should I stick to the more powerful 2081…?

Also, if anyone has had any great deals on either model recently from anywhere reputable, and would care to share a receipt for their purchase, that would be a great help!

Any other advice appreciated.

Cheers,
Matt

It's an older version of the current stuff, but essentially the same design.

Twin 6.5" speakers with tweeters floor standing fronts

    Single 5.5" and tweet rears

    Twin 5.5" and tweet centre

    12" sub

Apart from dropping 2 channels and some power there's not a lot of difference, they use the SAME ESS DACs.

Either amp will serve you well, if you don't see yourself using all the channels then got for the 1081

Nice have heard good of them in the past but never had the chance to hear a set.

The v2081 is also a higher current design than the v1081, looking at impedance curve for the current model listed(R455-V23) shows that it goes down to the low 4 ohm range this should not be a problem for the v1081 unless you like to drive them hard to high levels, if that is the case might be worth going up to the v2081.
