Bagless Vacuum Cleaner Best Value

TLDR Good value bagless vacuum cleaner.
Hi Ozbargainers
I am after a new bagless vacuum cleaner.
They go from $59 to hundreds of $.
At the moment I have an Electrolux Twinclean Z8240.
It was expensive (about $600) to buy back a few years ago. The vacuum itself lasted and is quite good but the rotary brush and the hose (with electric motor controls) always had problems.
Now the hose needs replacing and the cheapest I can find is $110 +postage. Thinking that at that price I may be better off buying a new vacuum.
Worth spending $$$ or a $59 one will do the same job?
Or should I just buy the new hose for the Electrolux?
Thoughts and suggestions welcome.

  • Repair the existing. Buy bags off eBay.

  • It's worth paying extra because a crappy vacuum is frustrating to use and spreads dust.
The people who know these things recommend against bagless cleaners. After reading this: https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/1pe2bd/iama_vacuum_re…
I went out and bought a Miele (as soon as OzBargain alerted me to a great deal at Harvey Norman that day). Got replacement bags on eBay but each bag lasts ages. Do buy the genuine article as the bag itself is a filter.

    • I looked into that as with or without bag.
The thing is that bagless you empty it every time and if the filtering is good (mine has 3 levels of filters including last stage hepa filter) it does not spread dust. I do not know about the cheaper bagless ones.
The bagged ones you tend to leave the bag in until it is full (as you say each bag lasts ages) and the air goes through the bag full of dust and everything else. It gets filtered but the air expelled stinks and so does the bag full of stuff.

  • If you looking for bag-less, try Dyson stick vac, currently entry model on sale, good for quick clean, spills etc.
For deep clean, go for Miele, always buy a genuine bags, usually on sale in ebay, or via goodguys.
Don't bother fixing your old vac.

  • I just searched on google and it comes up with the Kogan Cyclonic Bagless HEPA Vacuum for $79 or the Dick Smith Onix Cyclonic for $59.
At that price you can replace it every year!
Are they any good or complete rubbish?

    • You buy one and we both know ;)
For that price, it probably be value for money.
Bargain for me is buying a quality product at bargain price, not cheap knock off at cheap price. :)

  • I'm looking for one reasonably priced as I moved to an apartment near uni, the carpet is disgusting, been having a fight with agent about "steam cleaned" doesn't look likes it's being done and I'm having itch and rash sitting on it so I'm wearing slippers everywhere anyway long story to that. I short listed two and wonder if anyone used them before or comments pls? Need to suck up human hair and who knows what yucks from previous tenant.

  • Hi maxi, just wondering which vacuum you picked at the end? I am in a similar position currently.

  • Hi MadMaxBargainRoad
    Sorry I cannot help.
In true ozbargainer spirit I looked on gumtree and found a vacuum identical to mine for parts. Motor was burnt but the hose was as new. They just replaced it shortly before the motor died. $10 for the lot. So now I have the new hose and spare parts for the rest of the vacuum. It will last forever…………..
My family are not happy though. They say we never buy anything new because I end up fixing everything… Cannot win… :-(

    • Lol nice. At least you got a shiny Ozb badge.
