LG G4 Breaks down for The Second Time within 1 Year

last year, when I bought the phone, the wireless charging did not work, so I sent it in for repairs.

This week, my LG G4, which I like very much goes in to the dreaded Boot-Loop. Nothing to do about.
I am still in warranty, another 11 month, but don't want to risk the phone going into boot-loop again in 1 year, when I am out of warranty.

I did send the phone to the repair centre for assessment, so the retailer said. I got a phone-call just now, to confirm my address, where to ship the phone to.

I said to the person on the phone not to send me the phone, unless they can give me a 2 year warranty on the new board.
They won't.

Now the retailer says, that my issue is a minor issue, as it has been repaired,
I say it's a major issue, because LG knows about this boot-loop issue. And I ask for a refund.

I suggested 3 options:

  • Refund
  • new LG G4 with new 2 year warranty
  • 2 year warranty on the replaced board

Do I have unreal expectations, or how do you see my chances?
Any recommendation on how to proceed ( I have my own idea, but happy to see other options ).
Anyone knowing about a similar case? What was the outcome ?

Your warranty does not reset once you received it from repairs. It's purely commercial

    • They simply repair it, till it's out of warranty, with an issue that is well known?

LG would say "too bad,so sad"

          No, YOU would say that.
I am interested in less fatalistic opinions

Id be taking a refund and buying a newer nicer phone. Maybe the oppo or OnePlus 3T.

Lifes too short to be spent worrying over faulty devices.

The customer got Refund from Kogan ! ( no I didnt buy from Kogan )

    • Wireless charging is a minor issue for me but the bootloop issue is a major one. Just try to get a refund and get a newer model.

      • That's what I am trying. Was perfectly fine when they repaired the Charging issue. Now I am not happy because, being repaired recently, I supposed that the "new" board would not be subject to Boot-Loop, which turns out it does. This does not give me confidence this repair will solve the issue once for all.

    "I suggested 3 options:

I'm a bit confused about your wording - do you have 11 months left of the warranty or 11 months gone, and is it a 1 yr or 2 yr warranty. That makes a huge difference to what you should claim
If phone is 11 months old, the above 3 options you noted are unreasonable.

    • 13 month old phone on a 24 month warranty, now in repair for the second time, second time board replaced.
I request refund on the basis that it is a repeating, known issue.

  • Doubt they'd give you a refund. Mine bit the bullet after 13 months. Got my replacement and sold it immediately, I suggest you do the same.

  • They would neither reset your warranty nor give you a new LG G4 in return for the same device.
Anyways, you can refund your faulty device and buy some other suitable phone for you!

  • I got my LG from Quality Deals, who have refused to even help me repair the phone ..

    Hi

Upon checking, unfortunately the 1 year warranty of the phone was expired and we are not able to offer the warranty service. LG oversea had announced that they stop to cover the repair for out-of-warranty G4 because it is a discontinued model. We
had offered courtesy limited replacement offer out of our own pocket before until all replacement were sent out to other buyers who contacted us before you did. At the moment, we don't have any more G4 and LG oversea still refuse to help. In this case, we are truly helpless as a retailer and suggest you can try a local repair shop to fix the phone accordingly.

    Regards
    Ella

  • End of story: I got the motherboard replaced with a 2016 August made. According to Internet, this should not have the issue
Fact: Last LG phone for me.
