Just a heads up that you can now get these in Aussie retailers.

    TARGET

    KMART

And I am sure I've seen them at $10 or $15 at Kmart, plus there's other places like $2 stores etc that sell them.

Yes reader, you don't need to tell me that the ones in this deal are cheaper. However local stock means "fast" plus you get to review how crappy they are (which you will find).

    • Also a heads up that these ones with plastic PE layer are the lowest quality ones. There's another version with single opening (easier to inflate), and higher density nylon cloth. Don't have a link, but I got my in a camping shop in HongKong while I was there earlier this year.

      • They are a novelty item anyway. Basically a long tube.

You fill the long tube with air by running around with it, pretending it's a massive wind sock. Then you seal the ends, fold it in half on itself, like folding a sausage in half longways.

Then you somehow wedge yourself into the touching surfaces in the middle. A heavy person like me would fall straight down to the ground.

        • Yup I agree, I decided to spend the extra buck just for a peace of mind xD
The prices between the two varieties were quite significant at the shop, so I thought I might as well buy a good quality one seeing that I will be bring it all the way back to aus.

        • @boku:

You'd be even better off to buy a decently designed product. Like an inflatable chair than normal humans can get use from.

        • @llama:
Yeah, this thing isn't as comfortable as I've expected it to be, especially when you try to get out of it (gotta kinda roll to the side to get out haha). Nevertheless I could see it being used on some occasions such as road trips :D

        • +1

Wow, you guys sure know your inflatables.

        • @Scab:

Despite the encouraging appearance, this one is far too loose for my needs.

So Titanic T's Tess and Baaaaa are still my 2 favourites.

  • Death trap if used on water. Only buy for your enemies….

    • Neo, you should send one to Agent Smith

      • +1

I would need many. But at this price it should be feasible.

    WARNING: READ THIS BEFORE BUYING!

I bought this item in the previous sale for $15. I tried to have it delivered to my friend's house as a Christmas present (trying to be organised, I bought it well before Christmas). I received an email on the 8th Feb to say that the item had not been delivered properly in Victoria and had been returned to the Sydney post centre.

I had to pay a further $10 VIA A PAYPAL LINK! to get the item re-sent within 2 days or my item "would be destroyed". I sent the money and provided a new address that I knew could not fail delivery. It's been more than a fortnight now and the item still has not arrived.

I'm sure that delivery was not attempted the first time as my friend received no note in the mailbox. I'm 100% sure it hasn't been attempted this second time. I'm cross that nobody was notified when the postage failed, why was it shipped back to Sydney!? Lastly I can't believe that I had to pay via a dodgy Paypal link to prevent my item being destroyed. How can it be more than 2 months and I still haven't seen my item.

When I've asked for updates on the postage, I get replies: "Your order is already on its way to you. We will update you on the new tracking number later."

TL;DR: DO NOT BUY from this seller, unless you want to be extorted via a dodgy Paypal link months after your purchase.

It sounds like you got a scam email. Are you sure it was related to dd4?

      • +3

Agreed. Check the mail from PayPal, did it specifically mention your item, your name, or DD4?

        • I appreciate your responses. All communication was from [email protected], which is the email listed at this page: http://www.dd4.com/article/27.html.

It's totally possible I've been scammed, but I think it's actually just dodgy as hell business practices.

        • It actually wasn't an email from Paypal but rather an email from [email protected]. The Staff member's name was Karamjeet. The paypal account I sent to was [email protected]. They wouldn't accept the payment at first because my paypal address didn't match the one I was requesting that it should be sent to. I'm 99% sure that it was the company and not an unrelated scammer.

They are just like another ebay site but with less buyer protection, as you can see the rating on seller are vary from 83.1%~93.7% tried a few items on a particular seller seems good but banana on others. Try contact Paypal for refund at least your $10 should be return to you.

DD4 are fine, I and many many other OzBargain members have purchased from them successfully numerous times, it's patently obvious you were scammed.

      • Thanks for your definitive answer, Captain Correct. All of the emails were with [email protected], which is the email listed at this page: http://www.dd4.com/article/27.html so it seems official. It may be that the business practice was dodgy, whether you want to call it a scam or not is up to you. I am trying to provide a warning to the OzB community on this related post about what happened to me with that previous deal. I'm also hoping that this post could have led to someone from DD4 finally responding to my emails requesting an update on the order.

        • +1

Again, the overwhelming majority of users here have had no issues with DD4, of course using Paypal is a given when dealing with any Chinese merchant. As someone else pointed out, DD4 is a portal through which you purchase from a myriad of retailers, the website itself is not culpable, the merchant is, but you are protected through Paypal, so why you haven't lodged a dispute is beyond me. One single transaction gone awry is not sufficient evidence that there is a widespread issue.

        • Ok, if I'm coming across as saying that it's a widespread issue then that was unintentional. As I said, it was intended as a warning about what happened to me. Furthermore, I've been dealing with what I understand to be DD4's customer support email, it doesn't seem to be the seller.

I didn't mean to overwhelm you so much by not having lodged a dispute. That was a helpful suggestion by dlovep and I intend to do so as soon as I get home. I've never issued a dispute through PayPal and it didn't occur to me that it was possible or applicable to this situation - I didn't make the second payment through the dd4 website, but rather directly through PayPal using a recipient address. It seems logical to me that Paypal buyer protection permitting payment disputes would be on a site by site basis, rather than to any recipient on PayPal as they can't see any specifics other than x paid y $10 and now wants his money back.

Anyway thanks for your thoughtful and kind responses.

  • I bought one of the KMart ones.
My conclusion - save your money.
They look much better than they are.
    Used it once, then binned!

    • +1

Why bin it? You could have used it as a massive dry bag to keep things outside and dry… ;-)

      • pop a fan at the bottom you get an Air Dancer … to amaze your kids ? 8)

  • Great for those long Airport transits! :o)

  • +1

I bought 2 of these last time they were on sale. They both ended up in the bin very shortly afterwards. Yes they are cheap, but you get what you pay for with these. My advice would be to steer clear. If you really want one get a better quality one elsewhere.

  • A frequent question I force myself to answer nowadays, especially regarding cheapies on OzB and in shops are, will this end up in landfill?
