Problem in Holden Cruze after accident

Last year I bought Holden Cruze from Gumtree and after 1 month when I got it services it flashed engine light on odometer. I shown it to mechanic he putted lot of new stuff and ended up saying that there is a gasket heat leak problem in your car which will need new engine transmission. He suggested to buy engine from Ebay but wasn't sure if that will fix problem.

He put Seal up liquid and our car ran fine for 6 months (with engine light on odometer)

Last month I got it serviced again. I was moving at speed in parking where when rear wheel of my car hit the toe bar of some other car. The hit was quiet string that I got a dent on the rim.

I drove it for few days and after that it shown me wheel abs light and T\C light on odometer. Also, when i am on inclined road it feels that engine is struggling hard to get power . My car doesn't drive any smooth now .
The engine light which was stable for last 6 months has started to blink now.
There are 2 other odometer warning (One for ABS and one for T\C)

I checked with mechanic about it and he said he is not sure whats is the problem.

I have insurance and I would like to know that can I go to my insurance company to fix these problems. As other car hit on my rear wheel so will they fix the engine problem as well. I don't have vehicle number of the car that hit my car.

Please give me some serious advice on it. I am located in Melbourne.

Regards,
Smith

I was moving at speed in parking where when rear wheel of my car hitted the toe bar of some other car.
As other car hitted on my rear wheel

hmm, which vehicle was responsible for the collision? yours or the other party?

there is a gasket heat leak problem in your car which will need new engine transmission.

will they fix the engine problem as well.

the engine problem is a pre-existing fault and unrelated to the damage on wheel. the insurer would be fool to compensate for the former.

    putted, hitted

    put, hit

Did his insurance take care of this?

Is that what you think or is that what they said will happen?

Get in your car. Put the pedal to the metal and aim for a tree. If you survive then call your insurance to get your car assessed.

    Easy as pea

Take your car to broadmeadows and go in to do some shopping at the mall, car should be gone within 20 minutes.

  • My vehicle was responsible for the hit. The other car owner is out of picture now. I have not contacted insurance yet . Just taking opinion here.

They'll fix the damaged part due to the accident. As said above, they would be a fool to fix anything else.

  • Is it worth going to insurance and paying $700 or I shall get it fixed it from a private mechanic.

insurance will not fix your engine.

If you buy engine from ebay don't forget cashrewards

  • "car ran fine for 6 months (with engine light on odometer)"

so you have been driving with the engine warning light on for 6 months?

take it to Holden and get it looked and and get a quote. from that you will know the full problem but I think you bought a real dud car off gumtree. I hope you didnt pay much.
When you got the car checked by RACV or similar before you bought the car did they mention any probems?

    • Don't take it to Holden.

    • Yeah that shocked me as well. Idiots like this cause peak hour traffic because of breakdowns.

Didn't check under the bonut things obviously…

Remove the engine light globe. No more blinking light.

    • +5

It's easier to just put some black tape over it.

I think you hitted other car too string. Maybe time to sells for sure ok.

  • Hi
It is clear English is not your first language so don't take this the wrong way but you need to edit your post. Please use spell checker because it is much easier for us to help if we know what happened.

    The way I understood….

You bought a Holden Cruze (which is a heap of shit by the way) off gumtree. I'm guessing you didn't have a mechanic check it out before buying…

Then the check engine light came on so you took it to be serviced. Guy found it's possibly the head gasket.

I drove it for few days and after that it shown me wheel abs light and T\C light on odometer.

What? What the heck is "T/C"?

If you hit the other car I would highly recommend paying the excess so the car you hit can be fixed as well… If you didn't leave a note and someone saw you , expect a fine from the police.

If you hit the car, drove off and the owner saw you, you could get a fine for not stopping.

Your insurance will cover the cosmetic damage to the car not the mechanical problems.

Please hand in your licence. Sounds like you have no idea what you are doing.

Might sound a bit harsh, eriosuly your car sounds undrivable so please get it to a repair centre and don't drive it anymore.

You are saying you bought it? Actually paid for a Holden…Cruze? There is half the issue already.
Ok, now for some real assistance.

OK, ask a better 'English speaking/reading friend to help you here, as some of your information is contradictory.

You bought it second hand, regardless where you saw the advertisement.
Exactly….Month, year, model, body shape, extras, engine/trans configuration, petrol or diesel, kilometers then, kilometers now. When last year did you 'buy' it?

Exactly why did did you take it to a mechanic, for service, for the flashing light or other reason? Running hot maybe?
What exactly did they do, what parts were' putted' into the car?

….gasket heat leak problem in your car which will need new engine transmission…. is a load of double talk, either your poor translation or you are being ripped off. Show exactly what was written in their invoice or repair quote/story.

'Seal up liquid'….possibly Oil or Cooling System Stop Leak. Again, the invoiced item name will tell us exactly.

Serviced last month. Same twits as before? Current report?

Why were you moving at speed in parking? You have buckled a wheel when you hit the tow bar, apart form the legals, if that is all then fitting a spare would solve your issues. If you have really hit it really hard, to cause damage to ABS and TC sensors, it should be at Brake or Suspension workshop for assessment.

Engine now labouring up hills and not smooth. Warning light returned. Sounds as if the the original issues has returned, again possibly overheating or as mentioned a head gasket, but a proper diagnosis is required by a proper mechanic with proper detailed information from you.

Did you report the accident to the other car owner, the police or your insurance company? How long ago was it exactly? Your previous and current engine issues are not related to your hitting another car, and your wheel - ABS TC issues, so no insurance connection.

Pending other details not mentioned, time frames, etc your insurance will probably not be interested in either now.

Would a bus pass be a better option for you?

    • seal liquid would be chemiweld or some radiator stop leak seal. ghetto trick

      • Yea & Nah, they are real shop products, that generally work. Chemiweld will not seal a head gasket but will mostly work on fine cracks in metal being its forte. Rad' stop leak is similar but enough of will work on seals and minor gasket fails too. Pepper and ground egg shells are real ghetto tricks.

We had the traction control symbol light up when the air filter was clogged. Mechanic told us that we should never use E10 in the Cruze because it ruins the car and causes error lights to come on. Air filter was cleaned and put in 95 premium, now it runs much smoother.

    Here is some advise:

    1) Change your mechanic.
    2) Stop driving a car with engine light on. It is only a matter of time before you hold up the traffic because of a breakdown
    3) Reverse with care. There could have been someone walking behind the car.

  • "Mechanic told us that we should never use E10 in the Cruze because it ruins the car and causes error lights to come on. Air filter was cleaned and put in 95 premium, now it runs much smoother."

That is a nice advice. I will take care of it.I remember i putted E10 last time and Unleaded 95 this time.

Geez, I hope you get more out of this thread than 'use premium'.

Change the back wheel tot he spare and take the damn thing to a proper mechanic and sort out the issues with the wheel before you do anything else. The wheel is probably stuffed and the bearings and brakes might be stuffed too.

Then sort out the engine issues, properly.

    • That's pretty much the extent of my knowledge ;)

Our mechanic said that they use the same engine as the Holden Astra, in the Cruze too (it's a 2012 cruze). Apparently the Astra is not supposed to use E10, not sure why they say it's OK'd for the Cruze as well.

Haven't had anything light up since. Also bought an OBD car monitor thingy from aliepxress (it was $15) and it diagnoses any error codes/error lights pretty accurately. You download some software to interface with it….I can get details if you're interested (sorry it's not my car…I don't know much about these things).

However, since you have had an accident, I would definitely take it to a reliable mechanic - there could be a lot more too it than just the petrol. The petrol issue might just be the straw that breaks the camel's back, so to speak :)
