Camelbak Classic Hydration Pack 2L $49.95 (RRP $89.95) @ Anaconda

130

Received an email from Anaconda regarding the End of Summer Sale.

The lemon green coloured hydration pack is now 40% off listed on the email, though I also found a black one to be the same price.

I have one for hiking and it's pretty good so far. I hate holding a water bottle while walking… Also got a small pocket for your phone etc.

Available in stores and online (standard shipping $9.99).

  • Expensive for its price, can get one easily <$20.
Main things to look for: zip pockets.

They are good if you go to the slopes in Aus. Anywhere colder, the exposed tube will freeze up by the time you reach the base.

I took mine to Hakuba in Japan, it went up to -10C, The tube was perfectly fine, the mouthpiece froze a bit, but if you bite down on it the water will flow past it and you get a really cool refreshing drink!

I guess if you keep falling and spend a lot of time with the tube in contact with the snow then I could see it freezing up

-25C at Furano when i went, frozen within the time I exited the lift, walked to the tip of the slope and put on my board.
I ended up tucking the tube inside my jacket.

        • hahaha! thanks for letting me know! I think I'll make a makeshift cover for it next time

        • I have a basic Camelback (no pockets etc) and wear it under my jacket when boarding. I haven't been to extreme temperatures like -25, but this might help with the tube freezing up.

    • <$20 is a deal but I can't find one for that price, can you link for me please

look at the average prices this pack has been floating around.

I got mine at Rays outdoors, it was on their clearance box.

        • <$20 for Camelbak >=2L?

        • +3

Like for Like comparison please. The Camelbak bladders and mouth pieces are really several steps ahead of the shitty hydration packs you can buy.

Isn't that just physics or are there different brands that do a better job? Just wondering why you are telling this story?

Also, you are comparing prices with other brands. I use these for mountain biking and I know from experience that some of the cheaper bags aren't anywhere near as comfy or durable. Unless you can actually recommend a bag of the same quality then it is pointless saying there are ones for $20. Apples and Oranges!!

The 'classic' is the basic camelbak hydration bladder.
There are winter-specific versions that have insulation around the bladder, down the tube and the tube tucks into an insulated pocket in the backpack-strap, which has a pocket to hold a hand-warmer next to the nozzle.

        • Handy to know…thanks!

Get into a habit of blowing the excess water back into the bladder after a drink.

They can email it to you ?

    • I think that's for gift cards ;)

I love me a camelbak bargain, they have amazing quality and last ages and I appreciate that hi-viz means better safety, however this colour makes me want to vomit through my nose.

    • well at least if it lands on the bag you won't notice it

    • Black ones as well…didn't see that at first

  • Can you taste the plastic with this pack?

    • I've found all the modern camelbak bladders to be completely neutral.
'trutaste' i think they market it as.

    • I can't taste any

  • I bought mine for $29.99 in 2012, last ozbargain deal was $39.99 from COTD in 2013.
Price is going in wrong direction!

    • Wow! And I got mine for $70 a month ago :( At least I've used it a couple of times so it was worth it.

  • Interesting this is posted on Wednesday, humpday!

  • If i'm going to go hiking, i'm going to need more than water, like nail file and lipstick and stuff.
This thing isn't going to hold everything, so i might as well use a bottle, it seems to me…
