Amaysim - Mega Increase in Billing

Apparently there is now 13.035 billing months a year.

Got a email today. I assume it does the same for other plans.

We’re making changes to our 1GB Data Plan.

From your next renewal after 13 March, your 1GB Data Plan will be rounded up from $9.90 to an even $10. At the same time, the expiry on all our data plans will change from 30 to 28 days.

If you’re after more data, take a look at our

So its going up by about 80 cents per month… Mega increase might be a slight exaggeration.

9.2% increase overnight for the same product. you don't think a large increase???

It's actually only 8.2%. If you can be bothered changing provider for the sake of $10 per year go for it. Personally I wouldn't.

        • I have a dozen services. Most more than this plan. This is only what I copied and pasted.

I was just pointing out how sneaky it was to get a massive hit instantly.

Not many companies could increase their profits that much in a instant and get away with it

    • Is that taking in to account the 2 day reduction in expiry?

  • Mega increase in billing? I don't see it.

  • See previous discussion. Amaysim's prepaid mobile plan moved from 30 days to 28 days as early as last April. Looks like they are just bringing their data plan to the same billing cycle as their mobile plans.

    It's a sneaky way to increase profits by about 8.2%. (30/28 * 10/9.9).

But I love the way they're selling it. Phew, it's a real relief I'm finally getting charged an even number!

OP, I told you a mega times not to exaggerate.

Go ALDIMobile - 30 day expiry on Telstra network. I was on Amaysim for a number of years but moved to ADLI when Amaysim changed to 28 days. ALDI has better coverage and pricing IMHO.

  • Now Amaysim has bought Vaya, I suspect it's like Virgin buying Tiger.

Now Vaya will be their budget brand and they will morph into a more premium brand, all the while doing a sneaky but gradual bait and switch.

  • I use Yomojo, never had any problems, 30 days, $30, unlimited calls, texts and 6gb data.

They are on the Optus network

  • prepaid has been 28days for quite some time

perceived value of prepaid needs to be weighed against the fact your paying 13 times a year instead of "monthly" ie 12

  • Went to Amaysim's website to recharge yesterday and saw this page. Basically

    1. Data plans are now 28 days recharge cycle
    2. New 50GB & 70GB data plans
    3. 10GB / 365 days data plan is no more

My families have 2 numbers on PAYG + 10GB/365 days data for ~2 years because we hardly make calls, but use Hangout, Whatsapp, WeChat & LINE. I'll be porting out (possibly Kogan's offer).

    • 10GB / 365 days data plan is no more

What??? That's the only reason I'm with Amaysim. Who else does long expiry data?

      • Aldimobile neither any more. :( Unless you count the recent $249 42GB data + calls + text offer.

        Vodafone has $50/180days, currently half-price.

Yeah, sad that long term data plans are disappearing.

  • How much for 50 or 70 GB services?
