Just recently moved to the Macedon Ranges area from suburban Melbourne and whitetails and huntsmans are everywhere, under every blanket, between every cushion, beneath every piece of furniture.
…I've tried nothing and I'm all out of ideas

I'm really hoping for some 'tried and tested' recommendations

but you have tried nothing and above are tried solutions. Buy Mortein spiders indoor and [outdoor spray] (http://shop.coles.com.au/online/mobile/national/mortein-surf…). it works ok for me but only for 2-3 months and then i have to spray again.
Keep killing red back spiders in my garage too since my area is a new area (used to be farm lands few years ago).
Redbacks tend to be an urban thing.
We've got heaps at the moment, it's been a bumper year for spiders. Been in the house for near two years and this year has been the worst by far. Four hunstman's in the last 2 weeks, only one last summer.
use the bombs from aldi about $3 a can ,I use 9 to do a 40sq house
simples .
..
Burn the house down.
Haha I'm beginning to think it's the only way
It's not. There's always nukes.
last thing we need is morphed radio active spiders.
Remove their food source.
For example use fly screens to stop the flies flying into the indoor webs.
Buy some snakes that eat spiders.
Iguanas will eat ANY insect. They're fine to let loose in the house, as well. Great pets. Just not sure if we can have them in AU?
