Yea, I only did it before getting confirmation because of the daily entries, normally would have waited.
My entries for sharing did not go up
Ok now that I've got my Giveaway Entry Management System up to a decent stage.
This comp ends tomorrow. Sunday March 12, 2017 3:59 PM AEDT :)Must be an US EST comp. Note to all DST starts their time on the 12th.
I've even built in automatic adjustments for worldwide Standtime/DST. I'd vote ban DST worldwide if hadn't just completed those adjustments. Now to get around to obtaining ALL worldwide gleams and their details automatically in batches. To get around to entering lol. Then produce some nice summarys in Ozbargin style to copy and paste in for submission.
Cheers for the heads up, can't figure out how to change it now though, my edit button has gone AWOL.
Sounds like a serious system you are putting together, this is why I should have kept going with learning to code.
Argh yeh it's growing with tons of ideas to help manage my comping with summary reports for daily entries and expired FB comps etc etc. Bookmarking outgrew it's usefulness. Also no one comping site can really manage what you enter when using various sources.
Done some basic forms and various filters of summary lists including an embedded webcontol saving flicking to an external webpage. A lot has been the coding behind it all for time conversions and extracting Gleam details. Finding it lot quicker and easier to manage daily entries by just hitting a next button (needs a shortcut key) to progress through the various summary lists. Even with being slack for a month on comps somehow got around 100 daily entries spread globally.
To help automate/reduce data entry focusing first on Gleam giveaways. Currently processing them ad hoc by providing manually the URL and auto extract its' details. Details like UTC end date, timezone offset and determining if it's has daily bonuses come in very handy for prioritizing entries. From those details I generate a rolling 24 hour daily entry timer which used for sorting. It even adjusts for worldwide DST changes automatically. It's why I know the ending date/times for them in local AEST Sydney with some timey wimey conversions.
When your doing global daily entries for Australia, China, India, Central Europe, UK, US EST, US CST, US MT, US PT oh forgot doing a couple of Canadian AST they get interesting to manage. It's also best you stagger them a bit to avoid getting sinned binned by Twitter.
One thing Ozbargain could handle better is how it deals with global giveaways and entering/displaying their ending times. Things like instead of fixed end date displayed assuming AEST (Syd/melb) is the consensus, it would be great if displayed according to local pc settings. It would however require knowing what timezone region the giveaway is been hosted or at least it's UTC timezone offset.
