Bridgestone Tyres Pricing Special (Selected Models): Buy 3 Tyres, Get The 4th for $10

180

Waiting for the weekend when I had a booking for a Cooper tyres set to be fitted on my Toyota Camry - 205/65 R15 for only $481, I've decided to check the Bridgestone tyres for some specials. It was one there - "Bridgestone Pricing Special. Save more on four. When you buy 3 tyres, get the 4th for only $10!"

I've called the Rowvile's Bridgestone Select workshop on 03 97533099. Answered Debbie and she gave me a quote for $386 for 4 tyres balanced and fitted plus a wheel alignment, plus 50000km warranty, plus FREE Rotation of the tyres for the life of the tyres (this is what gives you the real longevity of the tyres), plus $50 voucher for a tyre related service at the shop. My next wheel alignment - free).
From the Bridgestone Tyres site the Turanza Serenity Plus deal was listed to be $367 for 4 tyres balanced and fitted and adding the wheel alignment ($49) it was suppose to be $416. I've asked Debbie to confirm that she is quoting the same type and size of the tyres. She said "Yes this is the one I am quoting for you'.
Needless to say I said "YES" too and visit the workshop 5 minutes later. Why? Because the quote was $95 (or $145 adding the $50 voucher for the in shop service) less than Cooper's one.

  • When You Buy 3 Tyres, Get The 4th for Only $10!

    Isn't the 4th one normally free ?

    • Last Thursday.
I had a problem with my tyres - Marangoni, suggested by The Tyre Factory TTF ($115 each) a while ago. They started disintegrating before the 20000km - visible cracks and loosing pressure.
So I was hoping for the 4 for the price of 3 but in my situation this one is good enough.

      • -1

        this one is good enough.

This is OzBargain though, not OzGoodEnough

      • +3

Only clueless people go to TTF.

      • I had a problem with my tyres - Marangoni … They started disintegrating before the 20000km - visible cracks and loosing pressure.

Marangoni Tyre S.p.A. ended its production activities in 2014 after the Group decision to exit from the car and light tyres business.

So, I'd say you got old stock.

  • I was excited for a minute as I thought it was for the whole range :(

"To be eligible to receive the 4th Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus tyre or Supercat tyre for $10, you must purchase a multiple of 4 Turanza Serenity Plus or Supercat tyres in one transaction and invoice per vehicle."

    May be update the title?

    • Sorry! Updated.

      • No dramas man, if it was dueler I would have been all over it and I am aware of up to $100 promotion even though it's $50 for me as my wheels are 16".

  • +2

    meh, sports performance tyres excluded.

    How's the Serenity?

  • Last time they didn't align my wheel properly took it back twice still not much better.

Finally they "hack" it a bit to make me feel the wheel were straight but actually they were not. The same happened a few years back with Kmart Tyre.

I have to take it to my friend place Nissan to use a better alignment machine did it again and he gave me a printed report to show me how bad they were out of alignment.

    • +1

At Bridgesone Select shop they give you a printed report of the alignment too. You get a log book like with your car with the intervals for check and service marked and they contact you when the next check and service is due.
Looks like a very serious care for your tyres.

      • they give you a printed report of the alignment to

They didn't give me that report but a log book.

Is your report said what is the angel out of alignment, etc?

        • You should insist on the report. Different shops run the business slightly differently.
I had a quote from a different Bridgestone Select workshop and it was for $30 more and no $50 voucher at all.

          @nov:

I really hate those store that cheat their customer to make them think they did their job properly. In long run you will see what will happen to your tyre.

        • @superforever: It crosses my mind too. I have to find someone who knows someone that is in a reach of a good alignment machine. First things first though. Now I don't have to pump the tyres every day.

plus FREE Rotation of the tyres for the life of the tyres (this is what gives you the real longevity of the tyres)

Rotating tyres doesn't make them give more longevity, it just evens the wear.

All it does is mean that when you next need to replace tyres, you have to buy four tyres rather than one or two.

For example, on my Mazda FWD, the front left gets more wear as it spins that one more for some reason. The right front wears less, but the car's a bum dragger so the rears pretty much last forever. Rego is due in April, and I will only buy 2 tyres for the front.

    • The Camry is a FWD. If I swap only the front wheels Left to Right and back they will wear faster, obviously. And if I replace only the front ones would I be getting more mileage from the rear ones as well and how much? (From your experience)

      • +1

If I swap only the front wheels Left to Right and back they will wear faster, obviously.

No, they will wear at EXACTLY the same (overall) rate.

And if I replace only the front ones would I be getting more mileage from the rear ones as well and how much?

You won't get any more mileage from the rear ones. They will wear at exactly the same rate as well.

        Example if not rotated:
        Front 30,000km & Rear 60,000km
        Average of both = 45,000km

        Example if rotated:
        Front 45,000km & Rear 45,000km
        Average of both = 45,000km

The point is… there is no point in rotating tyres. It's a thing that is almost a folklore / urban myth thing.

Ask an expert to explain WHY, and they will say "to even out the tyre wear". Ask them WHY you would want to do that and they will say "to extend the life of your tyres". Ask them HOW precisely the tyres last longer if they are evened out, and they will answer "by making them last longer".

If you think about it, there is no logic or science behind it whatsoever. But everyone does it.

        • "If you think about it, there is no logic or science behind it whatsoever"

OK lets say you are right, the advantage still remains that you only have to go to the tire dealer once not twice for those tires.

THEN you can take advantage of these buy 3 and get 4 deals.

Even when these deals are not on, if you buy 4 and get a wheel alignment they give you a benefits package PLUS almost certainly a bigger discount over buying two.

Now if your tires lasted even 1000km longer an even bigger bonus.

          I rest my case.

OK lets say you are right, the advantage still remains that you only have to go to the tire dealer once not twice for those tires.

Errrmmmm, no advantage there - in fact quite the reverse. You go every 5,000 km (or whatever) so the tyre place can "rotate your tyres", whilst I go to the tyre place when I buy new tyres which is every few years.

THEN you can take advantage of these buy 3 and get 4 deals.

The Buy 3 get 4 deals are only available through direct selling retailers like Bridgestone Direct where they price at RRP. If you shop around, you can equal the total price from a independent who discounts each tyre, not just the 4th one.

Even when these deals are not on, if you buy 4 and get a wheel alignment they give you a benefits package PLUS almost certainly a bigger discount over buying two

Ahhh, OK then, if you say so. The places that buy my tyres just price them "each" and I am not interested in "benefits packages" whatever that means. I just buy tyres.

Now if your tires lasted even 1000km longer an even bigger bonus.

See, that's the thing… the tyres DO NOT last longer. And that is all I am saying.

          I rest my case

          Case of what, beer?

"The Buy 3 get 4 deals are only available through direct selling retailers like Bridgestone Direct "

          Look at this front page

          www.jaxtyres.com.au/

FOUR offers when you buy FOUR tires, I find Jax very competitive except for Tempe tires who import their own.

          THREE offers here

          www.bobjane.com.au/

I rest my case, I rotate my tires when I get my car serviced.

        • @SamR:

FOUR offers when you buy FOUR tires
          THREE offers here

From your enthusiasm, it's clear that you're the target market for that kind of "get one free" type of marketing. Not everyone is so easily swayed by pricing models that are only competitive when buying FOUR tyres in one transaction.

          I rest my case,

We're not in court, so you don't need to win.

I rotate my tires when I get my car serviced.

Well, good for you. I'm sure the servicing company appreciates the extra labour hours.

Like many people I don't bother with tyre rotation. I see it as a waste of money, time and effort, with no benefit to me.

        • @llama:

All I care about is the cost per tire.

Apparently in cars like the 4WD Subaru you cannot/should not change just two tires, you have to change four due to different sizes of tires can stuff up the transmission.

In this case rotation would be a huge advantage. Also not all cars have even wear patterns, rotation can spread that uneven wear around.

Anyway, who cares? Do what works for you.

      • I think I just worked it out. What they say is that it makes your set of tyres last longer, by evening out the wear.

So, they are basing it on convincing people to purchase a "set of 4 tyres".

I've never really bought 4 tyres at a time. In the old days I used to rip out a set of rears in 5,000km and the fronts would last for years. Now days in FWD, it's the reverse and my fronts are what needs replacing quicker.

The FWD car I am driving now is also one of the only cars I've owned that has the same size on all 4 corners. I usually run directional tyres, so they can only (easily) be swapped front to rear on the same size, and of course that doesn't work if you run different sizes.

How is the Serenity on wet?

  • I just got 4 X Serenity Plus 215/60/16 plus a wheel alignment for $537 on my Aurion. Drives pretty good and handles well in the rain.

Toyota wanted about $600 for 4 x similar tyre excluding wheel alignment.

Good value if you need 4 tyres. Plus they come with 5 free Tyre Maintenance Checks at any Bridgestone Select in Australia over the next 2 years.

"Toyota wanted about $600 for 4 x similar tyre excluding wheel alignment."
A car dealership is the most expensive place you could ever buy new tyres..

  • $365 for 4 Serenity plus tyres including wheel alignment and rotations every 5k. no $50 voucher for me though

    • How did you get that quote, I was quoted $420 over the phone

      • I did it online. Hurstville store. Watch out because they tried to sell me a battery by giving me a false battery test report.
