I've been looking out to buy one of these and found this.
Price matched at Officeworks for $45.60. There were plenty of stock at Officeworks Vermont South (VIC).
Harvey Norman price ends today.

I bought one last week and thought " I bet these go on sale next week!!". $#%@$@%#$%^@ I'm off to buy a lottery ticket now :(
Well, I'd pipe in rudely and suggest that by your logic, your numbers will win the week after you buy the ticket.
Edit; and because misery loves company I'll tell you that I only saw this now and subsequently missed out.
how do these work? so you plug into your TV HDMI, then what?
It's designed to work with apps on your phone - like Netflix, YouTube, ABC iView etc. You choose what you want to watch on your phone, then tell it to show on your TV.
https://www.google.com/intl/en_au/chromecast/tv/chromecast/
Once the media is playing, you can turn off the phone screen - or do something else on there. The media steams direct from the cloud to your Chromecast. You can pause media playback using you phone - or for a HDMI CEC enabled TV your existing remote control will work.
For certain websites (like Netflix) you can do from a PC in the Chrome web browser.
What's the difference between this and a xiaomi tv box (besides the latter being more expensive) ?
One (chromecast) requires a smart device (tablet, phone, chrome on pc) to "cast" (send the information) from itself to this device to be displayed on a tv.
So: Phone>Chrome cast> TV
The other (mibox) is a standalone device which can do all these functions by itself in addition to being able to receive casting content.
I have the original Chromecast. Is it worth upgrading to this or wait and get the Chromecast Ultra?
If you have 5GHz wifi at home then Yes. Otherwise there is no difference at all between this and the previous CC1.
Do you mean wait until the Chromecast Ultra goes on sale?
If you are, or are intending to transition to 4K then probably yes. No need to go for the CC2 as an interim step.
Anyone seen the Ultra around for less than $99?
I believe there was a recent official price drop in the US. Might need to wait half a year to flow to aus.
Oh man i missed out, truly I do wish to acquire a unit such as this for my Fathers enjoyment… You turn your back on ozbargain for one sec and ya miss out!
Yep I've been looking for a few weeks, didn't check over the weekend as life got busy! Oh well, time to keep waiting
