Help Buying 40" TV (at Harvey Norman)

We are buying for the first in eons, a 40" (size limitation) TV but really are limited to a Harvey Norman purchase (as living in country NSW, it is the closest electrical store to us so we can see a TV in the shop):
HN 40" TV:

What would be the best in picture quality?

Hisense 40" Series 3 Ultra HD LED LCD Smart TV $695

Panasonic 40" 4K Ultra HD LED LCD Smart TV $746

Samsung 40" Series 6 Ultra HD LED LCD Smart TV $895

Thanks for any advice
:)

even with postage you could get a better TV for less.

20% off sale for some sellers on ebay

or TGG have this TCL L40D2700F 40"(101cm) FHD LED LCD TVTCL for for $448 + $35.44 delivery

  • I know Hisense takes a long time to start up.

Any reason you want UHD at that size? This has some better features but it's a little larger,

    $795

    • Just the space limitations, where a TV could fit in the lounge room

  • I'd say the Samsung would be the pick of the bunch (the Hisense series 3 isn't their much lauded 7000 series). The Samsung still has HDR and decent image quality, though for close to $1000, you could pick up a 55 inch model (though I'm aware of your space limitations).

Personally, I wouldn't pay more than $700 for a 40 inch these days, so the Hisense wins the price contest, but the Samsung will be the best image quality. That said I have no experience with Panasonics - they seem to fly under the radar these days.

    • Thanks

  • All the cheap UHD TVs I've seen have looked totally washed out in the showroom beside similarly priced Full HD.

  • Is there a reason why you wouldn't buy the same TV online? I have been stung with Harvey Norman too many times and have sworn to never give a cent to them. Their after care service is appalling.

    • Just so I can see the TVs working, so maybe I'll feel obliged to buy on the spot

  • I bought a changhong 40" from a dick smith store (wipes away tear) 3 years ago for $315. very good TV. great picture. sound is very decent (haven't needed a sound bar).

my point? inexpensive tv's are out there. I could have delivered for $40 or so.
