Broken 48 Inch JVC 4K TV (from Boxing Day BIG W Deal)

Hi everyone,

I purchased this TV back on Boxing Day: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/284415

I went away for a month shortly after purchase, thus only got around to opening the TV today. After setting it up, I noticed some bleeding in the picture when the screen was black - this didn't bother me all that much. But then some serious issues started occurring - the display kept flashing with static, half the panel gone, green dots everywhere, a "scanning effect" etc. This has happened a few times in the mere hours it's been set up.

For anyone else that purchased this, how have you found the warranty process? I imagine that Big W would be fairly accommodating of a return request, but it would mean that I miss out on this deal which I was hoping to keep. I understand that there is a 12 month in home warranty, but that just sounds like a major PITA.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    hey mate. I bought the JVC. Was an okay tv for the price but i had a dead pixel and i wanted to live with it. But once you see it, it's almost like you go out of your way to keep finding it. I took it back, they made sure i brought everything and returned it no problems (refund). Big W were great in this regard :) Good luck.

    Just exchange it. BigW usually don't even ask why but tell them and they will have no problem exchanging it.

      Yeah they usually don't ask but being a high cost item, they will ask :P

    Thanks for the replies.

    To my knowledge, these were a clearance item so I don't think an exchange will be possible. It may be a case of refunding and getting a more expensive option, or looking for a repair.
