Are Lubemobile Any Good?

Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone here has tried out lubemobile and what their experience was?

I need to fix my car but can't drive it anywhere due to a worn out clutch and my mate told me about this company, but not sure if they're realiable.

Cheers guys!

  • Yeah they're legit, been around for forever.
Have used them a few times (only because i was friends with the mechanics) and they did a great job, they were cheap for me (as i got mates rates), not sure what the pricing is like these days though.
    But yes they are reliable

  • Ive used them once, Was a public holiday and needed my car the next day. Came and did it almost instantly and did a pretty fab job. Can't remember the price but i do remember it being a bit on the pricey side but I would use them again!

  • Can be good if you get the right person out.

Had a great person at my original house, did a good job with the service.

Then I moved, and got another guy that:

    • Tried to rip me off and say brake pads / rotors needed replacing - when they were replaced 3 months before
    • Spilt oil throughout the bottom of my car, left it smelling like oil then had to go away for 2 hours while we waited for him to come back
    • Asked me to replace an air filter that was replaced 3 months before
    • Took it out test driving afterwards for approximately 40 minutes

Never using them again after that, wouldn't even trust them with a simple service. So dodgy..

  • Had a great experience with my RX7 - obviously they had to send someone who knew rotaries, longer wait to get him (not within the hour or anything) but he knew his stuff and really looked after the car.

  • About 15 years ago I got a quote for them to do a basic service (ie an oil change) and they said it was ONLY $720!
    Obviously I went elsewhere.

    • +3

Was this for an aircraft carrier?

  • I also once was desperate and it was only $30 more than dragging a non-working car to the local mechanic.

Dunno but I sure as hell remember how to contact them

OH MY GOD ITS 13 30 32 DAMNNNN WHAT IS MY LIFE

  • Thanks guys. I'll try them out. I'm hoping it won't cost me a leg and an arm.

    • its too late now but you're way better off having the car towed to a mechanic you trust

      • And pay $$$$ for towing? I'd rather not go in the direction if I can get a mobile mechanic

        • A tow is $80 around here… its free if you have NRMA. Mondial etc.

Here's the thing, a clutch isnt an easy thing to do without a hoist or multiple guys.

Even if your car is a FWD thingo you still need to drop the sump, bottom of the motor etc.

If you can trust a stranger to do that in your front yard, then go right ahead.

This is however coming from someone who knows three good mechanics and obviously I know whats involved.

If you dont know anyone then yeah, take your chances.

Here's an analogy. I'm happy for doctor to come to my place if I'm sick and bedridden and need some antibiotics. I'm not happy for a doctor to come to my place to do liver transplant. That's what a clutch change is.

I expect and extended time and bill for you car. I wish you luck. It cost me $1,500 for this last time and it took a few days and my car is super straight forward.
