Package Not Delivered, Fraudulent Signature

Hey guys,

Purchased something on eBay and the tracking says it's delivered and signed for but I don't have the package and no one was home at the time and the signature looks like a fraudulent version of my own. I have contacted the courier and they say that according to their gps, the delivery driver was at the address. They are telling me to get the seller to open a case but the seller isn't too concerned as he believes it's been delivered it and he's seen a signature for it so the seller told me to contact the courier.

Any advice on this, what can I do to hold someone accountable?

Just because the courier was at your house does not mean that he actually delivered it to you. For all you know the driver may have signed for it himself, that has occured previously. Insist that the courier company provide you with a copy of the signature on the delivery so that it can be compared to yours. The way some of these courier companies carry on is just ridiculous.

Maybe people can come up with a better idea than just a signiture:
    a) Maybe the driver can do a selfie with the recipient to prove who did the signing. These usually self date in cameras these days.
    b) Maybe the delivery guys have a code that also needs to be filled in and that is sent as an email prior to delivery.
    any other ideas people?

In the meantime I would beg the sender to open the case so you can get it chased up.

For all I know if the article is delivered and the address use is correct and the location scanned is correct, pretty much there is no point in escalating the case to eBay customer service as they will close the case for seller favour. All you need is to contact the seller and politely ask him or her for help in contacting carrier directly.

Try to check your surrounding to make sure you don't miss the parcel somewhere.

  • There is a copy of the signature that "signed" for it on the website when I search the tracking. The signature is definitely not mine. I'm going to try and contact the seller.

  • Is this Aust Post?

I think there's an ombudsman for postal services. Ebay/paypal would most likely side with the seller.

  • The courier service is "Fastway Couriers" 1.4 star rating according to google

Unlucky for you mate. Their a dreadful company - just check out the absolute hammering they have been getting via their own Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/FastwayCouriers/?_fb_noscript=1 and google: https://www.google.com/search?num=100&client=firefox-b&q=Fas…

Would be preparing to lodge a complaint with your state's office of consumer affairs, and a charge-back via your credit card company, if I were you.

      • Yet the Fastway driver for our suburb is awesome. I must be in the minority.

      They're the worst.

They do have insurance by the way for $1500 of item value. Hassle paperwork though.

0 stars as far as I am concerned. Would never use them again for anything.

  • The ombudsman is only for registered postal and courier services, fastway is not on the list so I don't think I can make a complaint

Your state's office of consumer affairs / consumer services can be used to lodge complaints against them & then have them actioned on your behalf. If there was a fraudulent signature done by the courier, you need to file a police report ASAP, if nothing else for your own records and as a permanent record about the courier so the Police have a better case against them for continued breaches of the law too.

Found the parcel hidden around the side of the house just then, last place I'd think to look. Looks like the driver has signed for it and hidden it. Pretty dodgy and illegal…

    • I did tell you to check 3 hrs ago didn't I? Glad you found it. I guess those drivers are in hurry most of the time.

Still report it to the police, it's still technically fraud as they tried to forge your signature/impersonate you.

Definitely report this to the courier company - they won't like to see their drivers are doing this.

If you are still mad, report it to the police. Faking a signature is a somewhat serious thing. He won't get convicted or anything, but police rocking up at the depot demanding to speak to the driver will make him think twice next time.

As others say - report to the company and to police. Imagine what will happen to others in future, they may not be so lucky to find their parcel.
