Coffee Bean Recommendation

I'm almost out of the stash of Sensory lab beans. That 3 for $10 was amazing.

I need to replenish with something else affordable. Can anyone recommend anything?

I tend to make mine in the moka pot. Dont need pre ground.

    • I had thid. It's over rated. If you wanna taste something similar go get trying Nguyen creative 8 or legendee. It's way cheaper and is roasted with Cocoa butter

I like the Aldi beans. Just their red bag of roasted or even their ground red bag. I am no snob though

Agree, there is affordable coffee (I quite like the Coles fair trade beans) that is ok.
Locally roasted specialty coffeee is better, but twice the price.

The coles fair trade beans are quite good for $5. I think they sell enough of them that they don't sit on the shelf for too long meaning they are usually quite fresh. I like the woolworths brand beans better, but they don't sell the smaller pack any more so half of it ends up going off before getting used.

    • Going to have to try a small bag of all the supermarket chain offerings

We keep going back to these http://beanbay.coffeesnobs.com.au/ViewProduct.aspx/118-roast…

Have tried a few different ones last year including the deal mentioned in the OP but still like these the best.

    • Interesting.

I wished their packaging didnt look like it was done in Windows 95 publisher. I know that has nothing to do with the taste of the beans tho haha

  • I have rather a less expensive Breville Espresso machine both at work and at home. Buy my beans from Toby's Estate. Love their Woolloomooloo roast as it's really good. Retails at $12.50 for 200g but I get a complimentary coffee (they even upsize it to large for me) with the purchase.

If you use their loyalty card you can get 1 free bag for every 10 bags you buy.

try Manna beans, they post deal on here every now and then. Great single origin beans, blends are great too.

    • Oh yea, I forgot about them. Thanks for the reminder

  • Yes for the price the Aldi beans are quite good, also importantly having the right grind is essential. A cone or burr grinder is the way to go so what you save on the Aldi you can spend on a cone/burr grinder, I have a Nemox which is around 14 years old and never see a repair …mmm I might regret that!! it is rather noisey!.

  • Kirkland Signature Starbucks Espresso. I'm a sucker for starbucks on the packaging.

It's as cheap as the aldi stuff and hits the right spot.

    • Hah, I would be buying it despite the logo!

  • Can someone tell me what's the best way to make rich creamy heavy flavored coffee mainly I guess heavy mochas with more melted ice cream than coffee haha lol.. I love my flavours

  • I go to allpress coffee in abbotsford

Coffee beans is something I don't buy cheaply though. I love my coffee and I'm prepared to spend a bit on it

  • Bear Bones. It is absolutely stunning coffee. Be warned though, once you go black you won't go back.

  • I really like the Campos Dark City. I just pop into one of their cafes and buy a bag, about $14

  • Find a small local roaster, I buy freshly roasted beans for $30/kg. I know there are cheaper beans at the supermarket but they don't compare to freshly roasted beans if you are a snob.

    • I agree with this, if you can afford the extra cost.
The quality is much superior, and your local will likey get beans to you at the absolute peak of flavour a couple of days after roasting.
Try local market stalls etc. to find out who is on offer.

    • I think you are right. It's such a premium price, but now its like a drug. I'm hooked :/

  • Try Dimattina's "Prima Tazza" blend. $8.50 for a 250g packet.

  • I've posted it as a deal once, I buy this coffee:
    2 Brothers Foods

I like the Organic Indonesian Gayo Mandheling Coffee Beans more than the other beans. They cost $10.25 for 500g or $19.95 for 1kg plus $3 flat delivery (up to 20kg so you can also stock up on bulk food and spices). The roasting date is unknown but I reckon it won't be any worse than the supermarket brands and I honestly quite like the coffee, with a good grinder of course :-)
