Book of Mormon $40 Ticket Lottery

Anyone wanting to see Book of Mormon but doesn't have tickets, I highly suggest entering the ticket lottery.

I posted on the Deals page last week but it got taken down.

Details:

The Book of Mormon today announces a ticket lottery, in which a limited number of tickets will be sold by ballot for $40 each on the day of the performance. The show’s ticket lottery policy began with the Broadway production, and has continued for all subsequent productions, which include two US National Tours and London’s West End. The Book of Mormon is currently in previews at the Princess Theatre.

A limited number of tickets for each performance will be sold through the lottery, beginning on Tuesday 7 February. Entries will be accepted only at the box office beginning two and a half hours prior to each performance; each person will print their name and the number of tickets (1 or 2) they wish to purchase on a form that is provided. Two hours before curtain, names will be drawn at random for a limited number of tickets priced at $40 each. Only one entry is allowed per person. Cards are checked for duplication prior to drawing. Winners must be present at the time of the drawing and show valid ID to purchase tickets. Limit one entry per person and one or two tickets per winner. Tickets are subject to availability.

Lottery is at the Princess Theatre box office, 163 Spring Street, Melbourne

I won on the weekend (first try) and got 6th row centre seats that are normally over $270! They gave away 20 tickets.

  • I recently purchased some for April 30th for like $50ish but yeah this seems like a good idea.

  • How did you get tickets for APR 30 for $50 ???? I"ve been trying to get good tickets for ages!!

    • You can still get them at $50.80 from this link for Grand Circle seats. Some days are full, but I randomly checked and could find them for 9 May, Tues, for instance. There is a booking fee as well.

Of course it is a risk-reward thing, and you may miss entirely; but perhaps later on, there may be better deals with better seats. But not assured, of course.(E.g. I managed to get first row stall seats for $67 mid last year, for Jan 17 performance). This $50.80 offer is for last rows of Grand Circle, which, for some, may be a bit far from the action.

PS. Actually, for $67, you can get some decent seats in Dress Circle (Looking at random date 9 May).

    • +1

Additional info: Was curious to see what savings the link I received and shared above represents. So I went straight to ticketmaster.com.au, and checked those few same seats. Turns out they are the normal prices for those seats, and is not any special deal. Just thought I'll mention.

  • Hey, I checked the site and they're the same as ticketmaster :( oh well.

  • I tried ticket lottery overseas for this very production. Never thought I'd be chosen, but I was. SO WORTH IT!

  • Too many shows (comedy fest) and too little time! We'll defs check out this (again) after the comedy fest!

  • Aiiieeee, it only just occurred to me that I could see this on one of the three nights I'm in Mel for a conference mid-April. But all tickets are sold out for those dates! :'( My only hope is to sneak out of the conference at around 4 each day to try make it to the theatre to sign up for the ticket lottery….except the conference doesn't end until 6 and the whole office is going so they'll probably notice my absence :/
