$59.95 delivered on your ebay store so hardly the bargain you make it out to be.

    • Hi Kamoi as the Australian distributor of RACO cookware we're confident that this is the lowest price in the market and the remainder of the available stock.

Why quote the RRP if it's not relevant?

My point is that you have an inflated price on your website compared with your ebay.

You come here to offer a coupon which makes people think they are saving more than they really are.

$59.95 delivered through your ebay store.

$89.90 delivered through your site. But wait, there's more!! If you order now using this coupon you can get it delivered for a one-time payment of only $48.90. That's a saving of over $40!!!

These days we see dodgy ads all the time. I appreciate your putting the effort to remind others. Sometimes we are really lost in the huge 'discount' we see.

  • The RRP's are always silly. That being said, it is the cheapest price, and a good price at that.

  • Hi everyone, hoping you can help. Perhaps you can provide some constructive feedback/perspective?

We've seen mixed feedback on RRPs etc. A week ago we ran a promotion and had 66 'likes' (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/290670) yet still listed the RRP and had not one complaint. As a consumer how do you determine what's a good price. Does an RRP not provide a good indication of the value of the deal?

    Thanks in advance.

    CWB

    • Q. Does an RRP not provide a good indication of the value of the deal?
      A. Absolutely not.

The value of the deal is evident when it is cheaper than anyone else is selling the same item/service.
In this case it seems like a good price. Every time I see an RRP it ruffles my tail feathers.
To me RRP would suggest someone, somewhere is actually selling an item for this price. Obviously this is not the case and why people get incensed by the flagrant bulldust that is RRP.

      • Interesting kevitkotw. And thanks for your comments.

As an Australian distributor (of RACO etc.) we are required to establish an RRP into the marketplace but have no control/influence over what other retailers may sell it for. From what we're hearing you don't really care about the RRP as pricing by retailers nowadays is all over the place?

        • Why would anyone care about a price that is imaginary?

Other sellers are selling it for ~$60 up to ~$90, you are offering it for ~$50 with shipping.

In place of rrp(lol), My suggestion would be go out and find the cheapest price elsewhere and post that in your deal title, after all, that is what everyone here is going to compare it against.

Correct. Apart from a select few products (e.g. Apple), hard anything is sold at RRP. Stating discount from "last week's price" says more.
Ozbargain only cares about "lowest price". If you want to demonstrate you have the lowest price, mention in your description that you have checked it (e.g. using myshopping.com.au ), and tell people how much cheaper you are than the next cheapest price. That shows whether it's a bargain.

For some products, the RRP gives an indication of "approximate value", but cookware is one of the worst offenders of ridiculous pricing. Suitcases are another, or jewellery.

Your previous Circulon deal was awesome. Keep in mind that people on Ozbargain are price and brand-savy. I know Circulon to be quite good, but Raco does not have the same reputation.

You are doing the right thing by asking for feedback. I hope you will be able to bring more deals like the Circulon one.

        • @Make it so:

          Thanks. Great feedback. Most appreciated!

        • @kevitkotw:

Thx for the feedback. We'll look at implementing that in our next promo. Most appreciated.

In My Eyes, the Circulon deal was good because:
    1. it was quarter of the RRP
    2. It was well below the other retailer's prices, including your own online price
    3. Free shipping
    4. Decent brand for the price

The Raco deals are not that appealing because:
    1. close to other retailers prices (including your own)
    2. charging shipping
    3. I don't perceive RACO is a quality brand

You want to sell some cookware???? Throw up some decent Essteele cookware at under quarter retail price with free shipping.. I'm sure the OB crew will jump on it.

    • Good to know Frugal-PANTS. Thx for the feedback.

Will see what we can do with Essteele in the future. There's limited opportunities with Essteele unlike brands such as RACO.

    • Hi Frugal-PANTS,

may have something of interest to you later this afternoon.
